George enlisted April 7, 1862 but was discharged in July 1862 because of chronic rheumatism. On discharge date he was 43 years old, 6' tall, dark complexion, brown eyes, black hair.
Much of George's history came from a granddaughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Threadgill Hitchcock, of Birmingham, AL. She is oldest child of Cleburne Threadgill.
