This was a day of whistful memories for me: my best friend's grandmother died today. It brought me back to that summer day in 1988 when my own bubie died.
It's been 13 years now. The pain of loss has dimmed to a regular burning glow. Whoever said that time heals all wounds was full of it... 13 years, and it's a sad day that I still feel. It hits me often, in my kitchen... my main dish set came from what was brought from her last apartment here in Montreal. On ocassion, a plate or bowl breaks; at that time, realization that I've just lost a small part of my past brings me a moment of deep sadness.
My heart really goes out to my buddy. I can understand what he must be going through right now.

I got my first paycheque in the new year today. While I'm not really making more money, I am making $1.13 more a week. Whee!
I guess the goverment gave out a bit more money after all.

I'm feeling sore all over from that spill yesterday...
I've spoken to my former editors at Dream Pod 9, and got the green light to bring my published work to another prospect.
It's been 5 years since I was published; about time I get back in the game!

Today was my bi-yearly checkup at the Montreal Neurological hospital... came through it with flying colors. In fact, with a blood test I had to take I realized that needles don't spook me any more for sure! Don't get me wrong: the needle still hurt. I just didn't get pale and worried about it.
Murphy's Law struck this evening though: I told my doctor that I haven't fallen in years - so this evening I careened all willy-nilly in my living room and fell. "So?" you're probably thinking... but for folks like me, mobility-reduced, it CAN be. Fortunately, I'm just a little sore, but overall alright.
