CONFERENCE AND WORLD YOUTH DAY
hey everyone!
t.o. conference and wyd are separate events. you have to register for each seperately. no, this isn't another one of our pranks. :-)
by now you prolly heard some things about a conference happening this year in toronto, as well as something called world youth day and how it's gonna be a whole week of worship and praise and non-stop prayer and laughter, so we hafta get ready, save money, wash our sleeping bags, dig out your old family tent from storage, mend our backpacks, shop for a cheap bus or plane tix, yadda, yadda, yadda. ...
all that is true, but bet you dunno yet that you hafta register seperately for conference and world youth day!
yups, yups! this means that if you register for conference, you can attend ONLY the conference. if you want to attend world youth day, you hafta register with them seperately. registration with the yfc conference in no way guarantees you entrance to the world youth day events on july 23rd to july 28th, 2002. here's a letter from cfc ministries director terry savage on the digs about wyd and conference. you'll see that very few things have been set -- we don't even have a venue for conference! -- so be sure to watch out for new info either on this web site or in your meetings and e-mailboxes. hopefully these web pages will help you make planning for this july easier, a july that just might be one of the most memorable in your Christian walks.

2002 YFC/SFC Conference
February 8, 2002
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Pope John Paul II is inviting all youth (his definition of youth is 15 to 35 years old) to come to Toronto, Canada to participate in World Youth Day! This is going to be an exciting event and a great opportunity to meet the Lord as over 2 million Catholic youth (15 years to 35 years) gather to seek the Lord.
It is the desire of Pope John Paul II to gather as many Catholic youth (you know, 15-35) for this historic event. Our YFC and SFC span this age bracket. In joyful response to his invitation, we will be having our YFC and SFC conference the weekend before the World Youth Day in Toronto Canada.
The CFC Toronto will take responsibility to get to us all the specific details, but I wanted to give you a quick overview while we are awaiting their communication. A summary of the details are these:
2002 SFC/YFC CONFERENCE:
July 20–22, 2002 (Please note this is Saturday through Monday)
Location:
Toronto, Canada, a Hotel near the airport (to be announced by Toronto CFC)
Housing:
In the hotel to be announced.
Fee:
TBA by CFC Toronto
Registration:
Through the web site of CFC Toronto. (They will let us know the web site)
WORLD YOUTH DAY:
July 23–28, 2002
Location:
Toronto, Canada (Throughout the city)
Housing:
The World Youth Day committee is arranging housing for this. You will register through their web site and they will assign you in groups of 5 to stay together.
Fee:

Registration:
Here is a registration flow chart we recommend. You can not register for WYD through CFC Toronto. [ more on this issue ]
Step 1.
Please check with your local parish and see if you can still register with them. If so, you can arrange your housing with them and meet up with them after the YFC/SFC Conference. If they can not accommodate you, go to step 2.
Step 2.
Go to the World Youth Day (WYD) web site (TBA by CFC Toronto memo) and register. You will need to register in groups of 5 having at least one person that is 18 years old or older. Through this registration, you can indicate your need for housing. They have free housing, though it may be in a school or church. They also have paid housing if you prefer. The reason for registering in groups of five is to facilitate your housing and with 2 million people in the city, it will be very difficult to keep together large groups.
If you have relatives in Toronto, you may stay with them, but you still must register through the WYD website. There will be no housing through CFC Toronto. The WYD committee is asking CFC Toronto to submit housing availability to them so they can place participants from all over the world in Toronto homes.
This is going to be a great opportunity for us to be part of the One Universal Church. We look forward to the great things God will do for each of us during this time. God bless you all as we all eagerly await the e-mail from Toronto Canada, CFC.
