HISTORY OF
Metal Mafia was conceived in early 1995. Dea Evenbeck from Ohio was searching for some way to support the underground music that she loved so dearly. She put out 4 issues by herself and then offered her close pen pal, Jenn Matthews from PA to join her as a co-editor. Jenn was the drummer for the band Family of Freaks. After the group disbanded, she mentioned starting a 'zine on her own. That was when Dea made her move. Together, Dea and Jenn put out one issue; number 5. At this time, Dea found a great friend in Long Island, New Yorker Jill Girardi, from Mortal Coil 'zine/Records. Jill ended Mortal Coil 'zine and that was when Dea asked her to join as the 3rd Metal Mafia partner. Now we have a 100% underground 'zine done by 3 of the hardest working females in the scene. We will continue forever!....... We will also be featured in upcoming issues of Endemoniada, Darkland, Domain (Singapore) & Autoeroticasphixium. AVAILABLE ISSUES We still have a few copies of our 6th issue available. It is 32 pages on newsprint. Featuring interviews with Lividity, Garden of Shadows, D.A.G., Adnauseam, The Reefer Hut, Skinned, Intellektual Spew 'zine and more, along with tons of reviews, and scenes from the Ohio Death Fest '98. And issue #7 which features Regurgitation, Unburied, The Chasm, Necrophagia, Morgue, Fleshtized, and more. NEW ISSUE FINALLY RELEASED! To welcome in the new year, we released our 8th issue at the Fleshgrind/United Guttural Annual New Year's Eve Bash in Waukegan, Illinois. This issue features Drogheda, Necrophagia, Arius, Burial, Mortal Decay, The Gathering, Disfigured, Deranged, Immolation, Metal Core 'zine, Exposed Guts and many more.
