PICK OF THE WEEK(or every so often) Episode Three: So, did I touch a nerve last time? Pavement not to your liking? Well, for those of you that didn't like them, here's another member of the Matador records stable. But try not to hold that against her please... Pictured below is the lineup from the last Lilith Fair. Notice that among the notable names (Paula, Sarah, Missy, and Natalie) is a mystery woman to most of you out there. Her name? Liz Phair. So, why is she among this mega-group? Because they all secretly know that she is a better songwriter then all of them combined. They knew this and decided that she needed to be recognized for all of her efforts that have gone unrecognized by most of the damn public. Except for a few of course. Any naysayers of my picks thus far take note: EVERY PERSON THAT I HAVE EVER INTRODUCED LIZ PHAIR TO HAS LOVED HER. That's right folks,loved. Not liked, loved. Of course these were people that actually sat down, with an open mind, and gave it a chance. Now that our mp3s are working again, that is what I would like to expect from you. Give her a chance, if you do you might be suprised. She's sure as hell not Jewel, thats for sure. And I mean that as a positive. You might like this if you give it a try, so give it a try. |
