Five Little Elves
A Fingerplay
This fingerplay is similar to "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed."
It may be appropriate to use at Christmastime while incorporating books on Santa Claus and his elves.
It promotes math concepts, language development, body awareness and fine motor skills.
Five little elves jumping on a sled,
(Display five fingers in the air and shake them up and down.)
One fell off and bumped his head.
(Bend one finger down.)
Santa called the doctor and the doctor said,
(Put one hand with folded fingers up to ear as if using a telephone.)
"No more elves jumping on the sled."
(Shake hand with pointer finger extended, back and forth, in a scolding motion.)
Note: Continue counting down to one little elf jumping on the sled.
