A STORYBOOK ROMANCE
Chapter Two
Rose opened her eyes and looked at the
surroundings around here. She certainly was not up on deck anymore...where was
she?
"Good morning, angel," Jack said as
she looked up at him. "Someone likes to sleep in, huh?"
Rose smiled at him. She didn't even remember
coming to his room last night, she had been so tired. She was so glad that she
wasn't in first class. She never wanted to go back to that life. Now, she had a
new and better life with Jack.
"Good morning," Rose said with a
yawn. "How did I end up here?"
Jack tied his other shoe, and sat on the
bottom bunk with here. "Don't you remember?"
Rose let out a little laugh. "Not
really."
"I took you back to my room last night
when you fell asleep on that bench," Jack said with a laugh. "I guess
you were half asleep."
Rose looked down and saw that Jack had slept
on the floor. He didn't need to do that. They had made love last night...she
wondered why Jack didn't just get in bed with her. Maybe he was just being a
gentleman.
"Do you wanna go get some
breakfast?" Jack asked as he took her hand and kissed it.
Rose nodded. "Sure."

As they walked down to the third class dining
area, they talked about what they were going to do about everything. After
knowing Cal for only a few days, Jack knew exactly what kind of man he really
was.
Rose sat down at one of the tables, and Jack
went to get their breakfast. Rose looked around at the people around her. They
were very different from the people in first class. They were actually having a
good time.
When Jack came back, he set the trey of food
on the table. "Do you like eggs, bacon, and toast?"
Rose smiled. "Of course I do."
As they both started to eat, something caught
Jack's eye. He saw Spicer Lovejoy peaking from the corner. He obviously was
spying on them. Jack turned his head quickly and acted as if he saw nothing.
"Rose," Jack said quietly.
Rose raised her head and saw the serious
expression on Jack's face. "Jack, what's wrong?"
Jack leaned over a little but closer to her.
"Don't look, okay?" Jack paused. "That guy, Lovejoy, he's
standing over by the stairs."
Rose had thought she had showed Cal that she
didn't want to be with him, but she must have made her point. What would she
have to do to get through to this guy? Gosh, how she hated Lovejoy. He was
always there. Always.
"What does he want?" Rose asked,
speaking out loud to herself.
"I bet Cal sent him looking for
you," Jack said. "Maybe we should get out of here."
Rose nodded. She hated bringing Jack into her
old life like this. She didn't want him to get hurt. That was the last thing
that she wanted to happen. She loved him so much. Wait...they hadn't even told
that to each other? Did he love her too? She wasn't exactly sure.
Jack and Rose casually got up and quickly
walked out of there. They walked down one of the back hallways and were on
their way to the deck. As Jack held her hand tighter, he looked behind his
shoulder to make sure that they were not being followed.
They weren't...so far. As they opened the
door, the sunlight hit their face. It was a beautiful morning. For a minute,
they both forgot their problems. But, only for a minute. They heard a voice
behind them.
"Miss DeWitt Bukater," Lovejoy said
in a evil voice.
They both turned around, not up for running
from him again. "What?" Rose asked in a rude tone. She was so sick of
this guy.
"Mr. Hockley would like to speak with..."
Rose cut him off. "I don't care! I don't
want to speak to him."
Lovejoy pulled her arm toward him. "He
has sent me to get you."
Rose immediately pulled away and looked into
his eyes. "I don't care!" Jack came closer and took Rose's hand
again. He wasn't going to let her go back with this guy. After seeing all of
the bruises on her body, he wanted to kill Cal and his stupid valet.
"If you don't come back with me,"
he said. "You'll both have hell to pay."
Rose looked at Jack and watched him glare at
Lovejoy. "Come on, Rose," Jack said. "Let's go see what Cal
wants."
As they both followed Lovejoy back to Cal's
stateroom, they whispered things to each other. "What does Cal want?"
Rose asked.
"I dunno, Rose," Jack said.
"We'll find out though, okay? I'm here for you."
Rose smiled. She didn't have to be scared.
She had Jack. That's all that she needed. She knew that she had to break off
the engagement to Cal once and for all. She knew this is what she had to do.
As they entered the room behind Lovejoy, Cal
stood up from his chair. "I see you brought that trash with you."
Rose starred at Cal with disgust. "Fuck
you."
Jack almost let out a laugh, and Cal's eyes
widened with shock. How could a first class girl like her be saying those
words? A better question, how could she be with him? Cal could barely keep his
anger under control.
"Rose," Cal said. "You're
being ridiculous. We have a wedding when we get back..."
"A wedding?!" Rose asked with a
laugh. "There's no way that I could possibly marry you after all of
this."
"I know that you love me, Rose,"
Cal said.
"Goodbye Cal," Rose said as she
tried to walk away with Jack. Cal took Jack by the arm.
"You can't just take my fiancée away
with you," Cal said, trying to make Jack scared. Jack had never been so
angry in his whole life. How could this guy think Rose loves him after he beat
her up the night before.
"I'm not," Jack said. "She
doesn't want to be with you. It's her decision."
Cal looked into Rose's eyes. "This is
really what you want?" Cal sighed and tried to explain things better to
her. "This might be fun on the Titanic Rose, but what happens when you two
dock...hmm? Where will you go? Are you just going to go sleep in the gutter?
You are nothing without me, Rose."
"But I have everything without
you," Rose said back. Cal was just about to slap her, but Jack caught his
arm.
Jack punched Cal, and he ended up falling to the
floor. Jack and Rose both ran out the door. Lovejoy just stood there and looked
down at his boss. "Go after them, you fool!" Cal yelled.
Cal was way to sick of this crap. He knew
that he needed to get rid of Jack Dawson. He knew he'd have to get rid of him
the hard way.
"Say goodbye to your boyfriend,
Rose," Cal said as he reached into the side drawer and lifted out a gun.
