ROSE AFTER TITANIC
Chapter Nine

After the doctor had examined Rose, he told Jack, "The babies and Rose are fine."

"Thank God," Jack replied.

"I want her to stay in bed until the babies are born."

"Okay," Jack agreed.

"Well, I have to go to the Whites’ to deliver their first child," the doctor said as he walked out the door.

Jack walked into the bedroom and sat on the bed. "Rose, the doctor said that you have stay in bed until the babies are born."

Rose slowly sat up. "You mean I did not lose the babies?"

"No. They are fine."

"I have to get up to finish dinner," Rose replied.

"No, Rose. Stay in bed. I will finish dinner."

"Thank you, Jack," Rose replied.

"You are welcome, Rose. Now, I want you to get some sleep. I will wake you when dinner is ready."

"Okay," Rose said, closing her eyes.

Three hours later, Jack carried a tray of hot roast beef sandwiches, homemade mashed potatoes, salad, and two tall glasses of lemonade into the bedroom. He set the tray on a table and went over to wake up Rose. "Wake up, Rose. Dinner is ready."

Rose slowly sat up. "What did you make?"

"I made hot roast beef sandwiches, homemade mashed potatoes, and a salad."

"What's to drink?"

"Lemonade, and not the kind from a store."

"You mean you made this all yourself?"

"Yes."

Rose took a drink of lemonade. "Thank you for this wonderful meal."

"You are welcome."

After they finished eating, Rose fell back to sleep, and Jack went to his work shed to work on baby furniture.
