Chapter Ten
The Next Morning
Jack carried a breakfast tray up to their
bedroom. "Wake up, Rose," he said, putting the tray down.
Rose sat up in bed. "What time is
it?"
"About 8:30," Jack replied. putting
a plate of eggs and bacon in front of her.
Rose took a bite of egg. "Where are the
kids?"
"They’re at Cal's for the weekend."
"When was he here?"
"About two hours ago. Now, I have to
clean up the kitchen. Do not get out of bed. Is there anything you want before
I leave?"
"Yes. My book is on the dresser. My
sewing project I need to finish is next to the book."
Jack went over to the dresser and grabbed the
novel she been reading, along with her sewing project. "Is there anything
else?"
"No."
"Well, if you think of something, just
ring this bell."
"Okay," Rose replied.

Ruth sat in front of Nathan. "What is
your plan?"
"My plan is to kidnap Rose and make her
marry my son."
"What if Cal is against your idea?"
"He won't be after I get though with
him. In fact, he will be like the old Cal when I get through with him."
"How do you plan on doing that?"
"What I did when he was little. Now, get
packed. We are on our way to get Rose and Cal."
