CAL’S LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE
Chapter Eleven

Sandy was still sitting by Lucy's bedside when she regained consciousness. Sandy looked up from her new issue of Photoplay magazine. "Can I get you anything?"

"Yes. A glass of water."

Sandy walked over to the table near the window. She poured Lucy a glass of water. "Here you go," she said, handing her the glass.

"Thank you," Lucy replied, taking it from her.

"Can I get you anything else?"

"Yes. Go into the bathroom, open the third door of the cabinet, and grab two or three magazines."

Sandy nodded, but came into the bedroom without the magazines. "I tried to opened the door, but it is locked."

"I forgot that I locked it to keep Nathan from finding out that I read movie magazines. The key is under the sink."

Sandy nodded and went back into the bathroom. A few minutes later, she came back with three old movie magazines. "Here you go," she said, handing them to her.

"Thank you."

"I noticed that these are over two years old. I have some new ones I could loan you for tonight."

"Thank you," Lucy replied.

"You are welcome." Sandy went to her room and grabbed six movie magazines that she had just bought the other day at the drugstore.

She went back into Lucy's room. "Here you go."

"Thank you."

"You are welcome. You are not going to stay married to Mr. Hockley, are you?"

"No. I plan on filing for a divorce."

"Good. Well, I’d better get going."

Lucy nodded her head.

A few days later, Lucy filed for a divorce like she had promised. She was about to leave to visit Cal in the hospital when the phone rang. "Hello. Who is this?"

"I am Nathan Hockley’s lawyer. He wants you to be a good wife and stop the divorce."

"Tell him I’ll do that when hell freezes over," she said as she slammed the phone down.

"How are you feeling?" she asked as she walked into Cal's hospital room.

"All right. The doctor said I might be able to leave by the end of the week. By early next week, for certain."

"Cal, I believe you now about your father. I just filed for a divorce from him. I want you to be on my side in the divorce."

Cal nodded his head, and replied, "You don't even have to ask me."

"Thank you," she said, hugging Cal. Neither knew their lives would be in danger, and one might lose their eyesight.
