CAL’S LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE
Chapter Twelve

Rose and Jack walked into the local drugstore. "What do you want?" Jack asked.

"A root beer float."

"Sounds good. I think I will have the same."

"I am going to the magazine rack to see if there are any new magazines I have not read," Rose said.

Jack nodded and went to the counter. "Two large root beer floats, please."

"That will be forty cents, please," the soda jerk replied.

Jack reached into his pocket and handed the soda jerk forty cents.

Rose found two new magazines, then went to where Jack was sitting.

"Found any new movie magazines?" Jack asked.

"Yes, two. Both have Cary Grant on the cover."

"You’re a fan of Cary Grant?"

"Yes. He is the best actor out there."

"There is a Cary Grant movie playing at the theater. Do you want to go?"

"Yes," Rose replied, taking a sip of her float.

"Okay," Jack replied, looking at his watch. "It starts in a half hour."

Rose and Jack hurried and finished their floats so they could get a good seat.

Cal was about to be discharged from the hospital.

"So, do you feel up to seeing a movie?" Lucy asked as they were leaving the hospital.

"Sure," Cal replied. "Who is the star?"

"Cary Grant."

"Is anyone else going?"

"Yes. Sandy, my maid. She is already here," Lucy replied as she turned into the parking lot.

"I think someone is following us," Cal whispered to Lucy.

Lucy turned, and replied, "Walk faster."

The stalker kept on following them, writing down notes on a pad of paper.
