ALL’S WELL AS ENDS WELL
Chapter Two
"Hurry up! Slowpoke! We’ve
got to catch her!" Finally, we reached the first class staterooms.
"You realize that they’re not just going to let us in?"
"I do. Let’s see what
happens." The first thing we saw when we peeked into her room was Cal.
"Wretched man," I whispered.
We walked in. "Excuse
me," I said. Everyone in the room turned to the girls wearing flannels and
t-shirts. "Um…is it possible I--we--could speak with Miss Rose?"
"Who are you?" asked
Cal.
"Please answer."
"No."
"Well, that was worth the
run," said Katy, rolling her eyes.
"Come on!" I grabbed
her and ran out of the stateroom, leaving everyone in total confusion. We ran
to the deck. "Let’s find Jack."
"To third class!" Katy
announced, drawing attention.
"You idiot!" I grabbed
her arm. When we reached the lower deck, we started looking for Jack. We
couldn't find him.
"I have an idea!" Katy
said.
"What?" I asked.
"Let’s go to the upper deck
and use the telephone...if we can find it."
"Worth a try." Katy and
I ran to the upper deck.
"There it is," I said
with a goggled look in my eyes. Katy slapped me. "Gee, thanks!"
"Mmm-hmm."
"Ready?"
"Uh-huh." I picked up
the phone.
"Ahem…excuse me. We’re
trying to find Jack Dawson. He’s wanted on the upper deck." I hung it up.
"Wait! Let's get Rose,
too!"
"Fine," I said, picking
it back up. "We’re also looking for Rose DeWitt Bukater. Her presence is
also required on the upper deck. Gee, that's fun!" I said, hanging it up
again. "Come on. Let's go wait for them!"
We waited. The first to arrive
was Jack.
Katy was making goggle eyes. I
slapped her. "He's Rose's."
"Excuse me?" Jack asked
with a baffled look on his face.
"Excuse her. I'm Christine,
or you can call me Christy. And this is Katherine, or Katy." Jack nodded.
"How did you know my
name?"
"Long story. You see, we're
from 2007...in other words, the future!" I said. "We were transported
here by..." I thought about it for a few seconds. "Well, I don't
know, but we can help!" I said. "Mostly with your...ahem...love
life." I coughed.
"So...you're from the
future."
"Let me break this
down...ahem..." I said. "We…" I spoke slowly. "…are…from
the future." I smiled and nodded. "Oh, yeah, by the way, the Titanic
is going to sink, and you're supposed to die!"
"Um..." Jack said,
unsure.
"Okay, go along and do your
thing. If you have any problems, come to us. We know what's going to
happen," I said. "Trust us...please!" I added.
"Okay."
"We can help..." I
paused. "With your love life." I sighed. Jack gave me a confused
look. "Just go along." I pushed him. I turned around. Katy had goggle
eyes again. I slapped her.
"Oh, gosh, thanks."
Jack left, but as he left, Rose came. "My turn to talk, since you got the
hottie."
"Okay," I answered.
"Um...I'm supposed to meet
someone here. Did you see someone?" she asked.
"Well, actually, we called
you here," Katy said.
"Well...oh, my," she
said.
"Let me break this down.
We're two girls from 2007...in other words, the future. We were sent here to
help with...um...how do I put this…ah! I know! Your love life!" she
shouted. I quickly covered her mouth. "Oh…um...was that out loud?" I
fake smiled and nodded. "Oh…sorry, Miss DeWitt Bukater."
"You know my name?"
"Did you catch anything I
said?" Katy asked with an annoyed look. "Well," she said,
calming herself down, "your story…you'll find out what your story is
later…is a moving picture."
"A moving picture?"
"Yep," Katy said.
"So, if you need anything, like to talk about a boy or your love life, we
know what will happen and we can stop it. You know, the bad things."
"All right."
"We'll always be on the top
deck."
"Well…uh…thank
you…uh..."
"Christine Wilkes. Just call
me Christy," I said.
"And the famous Katherine
Alcott. Just call me Katy, seriously," she said.
"Fine, as long as you call
me Rose, and not Miss DeWitt Bukater."
"If that was my last name, I
wouldn't be able to spell it," Katy said.
"Hey! That’s Jack’s
line!" I said.
"Who is Jack? May I
ask?"
"You'll find out. Just don't
tell Jack who we are!"
"All right. If you ever need
to speak with me, I'll tell Trudy to let you girls in...and what are you
wearing?" Rose asked.
"Oh, this? That's easy.
Flannels and t-"
"Um...Katy? Flannels and
t-shirts aren‘t worn on the outside yet!" I whispered.
"Right...in that case, to
hide our identity…" Katy whispered to me. "Rose, do you have any
spare dresses?" We were about the same size as Rose. "We need them so
people don't suspect that we're from the future."
"Oh, of course. Follow
me," Rose said.
"I like Rose," I
whispered to Katy.
"She's Jack's," Katy
whispered.
"I didn't mean that
way!" I whispered. We followed her to her room.
