what is warhammer 40K?
Warhammer 40K is a strategic tabletop game played with miniatures.
Most people paint these miniatures and some people (like myself)
even prefer painting over playing the game. this site is about warhammer 40K;
the futuristic version of Warhammer. the second one takes place in a fantasy world and has somewhat
different rules than 40K but works the same in general. throughout the years there appeared several spin-offs
of both these games (like battlefleet gothic, warhammer quest and so on).

you pay a visit to the official Games-workshop page, you can get to them trough my links page. Earlier I said that it was a tabletop game, well it is, but its a tabletop game like no other, because you don't use a board, every move your miniatures make is measured in inches.
Because of this you can make the playing area as large and variable as you want.
the 40K universe
If you want to start collecting a 40K army you've got a choice out of several races; there are humans (spacemarines, imperialguard and so on), Orks, eldar, Tiranids and many more. Each of these races has its own look and tactics. On their turn, severall races are devided into diffirent groups. For example: the space marines are devided into so called chapters that are somewhat equal to knight orders in the middle ages, they even bair names like "black templars" or "gray knights". This site is about one of the oldest and most important chapters; the Dark Angels, nicknamed: "the unforgiven" because of their past. These Spacemarines are part of the imperium. The imperium is led by the ilusterus emperor who has been sitting on his golden throne, on earth for supposedly tenthousand years and no one ever gets to see him (except some high priests or something probabley).
