d. Deep River. Known as Saybrook until 1947, Winthrop is a village of Deep River.

e. Durham (Coginchaug until 1704). Incorporated 1708.

f. East Haddam. Part of Haddam, incorporated 1734. Hadlyme, Leesville and Millington are villages of East Haddam.

g. East Hampton (Chatham until 1915).  Incorporated 1734. Cobalt, Moodus and Middle Haddam are villages of East Hampton.

h. Essex.  Part of Saybrook until 1854, Centerbrook and Ivoryton are villages of Essex.

i. Haddam. Incorporated in 1668. Hidden Lake, Higganum, Shailerville, Tylerville  and Haddam Neck villages of Haddam.

j. Killingworth. Part of Clinton until 1838.

k. Middlefield. Until 1866 part of Middletown, Baileyville and Rockfall (Rockfalls) are villages of Middlefield.

                "Denison's Factory.—In the western part of Winthrop, just south of the Killingworth road, is the Denison

                Factory, run by steam, for the manufacture of joiners' planes, which was established about 1832,

                by Messrs. John and Lester Denison. It is now owned and carried on by Mr. Gilbert Denison.

                The business has been in the Denison family continuously for fifty-two years."
