~*~More Than That~*~

Chapter 1

"Carol, Mr. Roberts would like to see you in his office, now!" Susan said walking out of Carol's office."God, what does he want now," she muttered. She opened the door and saw Mr. Roberts and a cute man with brown eyes and brown hair talking to each other. She also spotted some paintings that were not there before. They looked like they were from the 1800's.
"Ah, Ms. Duong you're here," Mr. Roberts said. "I'd like you to meet Mr. McLean and Mr. McLean this is the Ms. Carol Duong I was telling you about."
"Nice to meet you," he said shaking her hand. "You can call me A.J.." Whoa, she's hot! I wonder if she has a boyfriend. A.J. thought.
"Likewise, A.J.," Carol replied.
"Now Ms. Duong, Mr. McLean wants to sell some of his family's paintings," Mr. Roberts said. "And since you're an expert in selling old paintings, I think you would be perfect for the job," he complimented.
"Thank you sir," Carol said. "If you would follow me into my office we could discuss the paintings, A.J.. I'll send someone to your office to gather these paintings sir." He nodded as Carol and Alex walked out of his office. He's cute. Wait, what am I thinking? I have Scott. I love Scott. Right? Carol thought as they were walking to her office.
"Well the paintings aren't here yet. Do you want some coffee?" Carol asked A.J. as they waited for the paintings.
"Sure," A.J. simply replied. Carol sat up and walked over to the coffee maker. A.J. followed her. "Allow me," he said as he poured coffee into two cups.
"Thank you," she said as her handed her the cup of coffee. "So, I caught a glimpse of your paintings in Mr. Roberts room. They were nice. Did you inherit them?" she asked trying to make conversation.
"Actually, my mother was cleaning out her attic last week and she found them. She had no use in it and I had no use in them either. So, we decided to sell them and give the money to charity." he answered.
"Aw! That's sweet," she exclaimed, "and since you'd be willing to make donate to charity, you probably have a pretty decent job."
"Yeah, I guess you can say that," A.J. answered. He didn't really want to tell Carol that he is a member of the Backstreet Boys. People act differently around him when he tells them what he does for a living.
"So, what do you do?" Carol asked. Knock! Knock! Carol turned around. "That must be the paintings," she said as she went to open the door.
Ten men walked in. Each painting being carried by two men. They set them down and walked out the door. "Thank you!" she yelled to them. Carol walked over to her desk and sat down as A.J sat in his seat.
"So?" Carol asked.
"What?" he said.
"What do you do for a living?" she asked again.
"Shouldn't we be talking about the paintings," he said trying to change the subject. Why won't he tell me his job? Carol thought.
"Don't try and change - " she started as his cell phone interrupted him.
"Hello," A.J. said into the cell phone. "I thought we took care of that already? Okay, I'll be there in 15 minutes." He looked at Carol. "I'm sorry, I have to go."
"It's okay. I'll find out what you do another time," Carol said as she smiled. She has a beautiful smile! A.J. thought.
"So, I'll be back tomorrow," A.J. said.
"Oh no! You can't. My schedule is all filled up tomorrow," Carol said.
"Well, how about dinner tomorrow night?" A.J. said with a smile. Carol paused. If I goes to dinner with A.J., it will upset Scott and he'll probably hurt me again. Wait! This is just a business dinner.I'm acting like it's a date. Carol thought.
"Sure, you can pick me up here at 6," she answered.
"Okay," A.J. said as he walked out the door. I'm going to have to bring a dress with me to work tomorrow morning and change in the office. I hope Scott doesn't catch me. Carol thought as she looked over some papers for tomorrow.
