~*~More Than That~*~

Chapter 2

Carol woke up to the sound of her alarm clock. She looked over to the right. Whew! Scott must have left already to go drinking with his friends. Carol thought as she stood up and walked to her closet. It's been a while since she has put on one of her dresses. She decided on a black knee length skirt with a pink V-neck 3/4 sleeve shirt. She put the clothes in an old Macy's bag and walked down the hall to the bathroom.
A.J. sat on the end of his bed. He thought about what would happen tonight with Carol. He wanted to get to know her better. I hope she doesn't have a boyfriend. A.J. thought. Ring! Ring! A.J. picked up the phone.
"Hello," he answered into the phone.
"Hey Bone!" the voice on the other line said.
"D? What's up?" A.J. answered. It was A.J.'s longtime friend and band mate Howie.
"I was going to ask you the same thing. You seemed different yesterday at the meeting," Howie stated. "You met a girl didn't you?"
"How did you know?" A.J. asked.
"A.J., I've known you for more than ten years. I know the way you act when you met a girl you like," Howie answered. "So did you ask her out yet?"
"Yeah. But it's only a business dinner," A.J. answered sadly.
"Business dinner?" Howie asked with curiosity.
"Yes. Remember those paintings my mom found in her attic. She wants to sell them and donate the money to charity. She was busy yesterday, so I went to Buckland Auction for her," A.J. said.
"Oh. Well I got to go. I'll see at rehearsal tomorrow. Bye," Howie said.
"Bye," A.J. said as he hung up the phone. He sighed and walked in his bathroom.
Carol walked her last client for the day out the door. It was 5:00, more than enough time to get ready. She walked behind her desk and grabbed the bag. She was just about to walk into the other room to change when the phone rang.
"Hello, Buckland Auction. Carol Duong speaking," she answered into the phone.
"What are you doing there? You should've have been home already," the voice said. Carol recognized the voice immediately. It was Scott. She dropped the Macy's bag.
"I won't be home until 9 tonight. I have some more work to finish," she said with fear in her voice.
"Any later than 9 and you'll be sorry," Scott said as he hung up. Carol put the phone down and sat down in her chair.
