-Their Game -

Chapter 8- Some Girl

Nick picked up his phone, glad to be home. He had dropped Memphis off at home after they finished eating, claiming her didn’t feel well. In reality, he didn’t. He was sick to his stomach thinking about what sort of game AJ was playing and whom he thought he was fooling.

The phone rang once, twice, before AJ answered, “Hello?” He sounded tired. Nick wondered for a brief second if he woke him up.

Oh well, he deserved it, “What the hell is going on?” Nick asked, fuming from all the emotions swimming inside him.

“Huh? Nick, what are you talking about?” AJ asked, confusion filling his voice.

“Memphis… and you… talking on the phone…” He felt stupid talking in this manor, and he couldn’t explain why he was so mad, he just was.

“Yeah… so?” AJ had a hint of laughter in his voice.

Nick couldn’t believe him! He thought this was funny! He thought it was HILAROUS that Nick was upset because AJ was talking to HIS girlfriend. Wait a minute… “Why didn’t you tell me you two where talking?”

“You care? Nick, she’s just some girl,” AJ stated, “Us talking shouldn’t affect you this much, if at all.”

A test. This whole fuckin’ thing was a test. God, Nick felt stupid now. “It… doesn’t… but…” His mind reeled, how could he get his point across now. What was his point exactly? “It hurt my feelings that you where telling her all these secrets and not telling me…”

“Nick, don’t sweat it… I’m just being friendly. I don’t want her freaking out on tour so I’m giving her some information about us. So she understands all our freakish ways. After all, the girls coming only to get her heartbroken, she may as well have a little fun before hand.”

Nick sighed, running a hand through his hair. He knew there was more to it then that. AJ was hiding something, and that was never a good fact. “All right, fine. But… just don’t slip up and tell her about out game. Memphis is smart and I have no doubt that, given the right pieces, she’ll put together the puzzle.”

“Don’t worry bro, I won’t say anything.” AJ shook his head, even though Nick couldn’t see him.

“Fine, whatever.” Nick said, not fighting it anymore. “I invited her and she said she’d come, so in two days… we’re all be on tour, with her…”
