Chapter 14

Monday, June 8, 1998

Everyone stood around the Backstreet tour bus and bid them adieu. The Boys were leaving in a few minutes for Miami and the girls wanted to spend sometime with them before they left. The girls didn’t want them to leave, but understood their obligations to the other fans that paid to see them.

“This isn’t fair,” Valondra said to Nickolas. “I had the greatest time of my life last night and now you’re leaving.”

“You’ll see me in a couple weeks though,” Nickolas said.

“I know, but it’s not going to be soon enough,” Valondra stated.

“Why don’t you come with?” She smiled.

“I’d love to, but you know I can’t.”

“You’re parents will flip out on you.”

“I’ll be eighteen in November and I’ll graduate next spring. Then I can do whatever I want. But as long as I live under my parents roof, even though they hate my ass, I must obey them.”

“Yes you must.”

“It still ain’t fair though.”

“I know how you’re feeling.”

“Not only that, but Ariel gets to have a whole week with Jonathan yet. It pisses me off.”

“I know how you’re feeling.”

“I’m glad you do.”

“But our time together will be here before you know it.”

“I know, but I like complaining.”

“I’ve noticed.” She smiled and kissed him.

“Oh, Nicky, we have to get going,” Howard said.

“I know,” Nickolas said. “I know.”

“So let’s go,” Kevin said. “You’re always the last one.”

“Can’t I say goodbye?” Nickolas asked.

“You’ve been saying goodbye the past half hour,” Alexander pointed out. “I think she gets the point.”

“Maybe you should go,” Valondra suggested. “You don’t want the Boys to get angry.”

“It won’t be anything new,” Nickolas said. “I’m the youngest so I’m a royal pain in the ass.”

“So am I,” Valondra said and they laughed.

“I’ll see ya in a couple weeks,” Nickolas said.

“Alright,” Valondra said and he kissed her again. “Later.”

“Later,” Nickolas said and she watched him walk to the bus. Nickolas looked at her, as he walked backwards and she waved to him. He waved in return and got on the bus. She watched the bus drive away with the other girls and looked forward to the coming weeks.
