*~The Dream Of A Lifetime~*

Chapter 7

“Excuse me,” Valondra said standing at the ER desk. “I’m looking for Nickolas Carter.”

“Are you family?” the nurse asked.

“I’m his fiancée.”

“You must be Valondra then.”

“Yes.”

“Right this way.” Valondra followed the nurse down a short hall and the nurse pulled back a curtain. “Right there he is.”

“Thank you.” The nurse walked away and Valondra walked over to Nickolas as he looked. “Nick.”

“Hey, Princess,” Nickolas said sitting up and she hugged him.

“Are you ok?”

“I’m fine.”

“You scared the life out of me. All they said is that you were in an accident.”

“I’m ok. Just a small concussion.”

“Then why are you hooked up to all these machines.”

“Procedure. I was unconscious for a little when they brought me in.”

“Were you speeding again?”

“No, I swear it. I swerved to miss a little girl walking across the road and I hit a parked car. The car behind me ran into the side of me. They said the Durango’s totaled.”

“I don’t care about the damn truck. I’m just glad you’re alright.”

“I was lucky they said.” She looked at him. “I could’ve been killed on impact.”

“Don’t tell me that, Nick.” She hugged him again. “I love you so much.”

“I love you too.” She looked at him and he kissed her.

“When can you come home?”

“When the doc fives the ok. He’s looking over my x-rays.” She just continued looking at him. “Princess, I’m fine so stop worrying.” He kissed her again.

“None of that,” someone said joining them.

“Hey, Dr. Martin,” Valondra said.

“Hello, Valondra,” Dr. Martin said. “How are you today?”

“Good amazingly,” Valondra said. “Considering what happened to Nick.”

“The knee still bothering you?”

“Yeah.”

“I told her to get the surgery,” Nickolas said. “But she refuses.”

“We had this conversation before,” Valondra said.

“You really should,” Dr. Martin said.

“So can Nickolas come home?” Valondra wanted to know.

“You’re very impatient,” Dr. Martin said. “In a couple hours. I’m having an x-ray specialist look at your x-rays.”

“Can’t I just go home and you can call me at Lon’s?” Nickolas asked.

“I would, but my boss is here today,” Dr. Martin said. “It’s his policy.”

“We understand,” Nickolas said. “Right, Loni?”

“Yeah,” Valondra mumbled.

“Alright,” Dr. Martin said. “I’ll be back later to check on ya.”

“Ok,” Nickolas said and Dr. Martin left. “So where are the others?”

“They went out,” Valondra replied. “I couldn’t get a hold of them. Besides Kev, because he was at the house when the nurse called. He would’ve come, but he and Alyssa had reservations they couldn’t get out of.”

“Just as long as you’re here.”

“Your dad and sisters are coming up.”

“Oh yeah.”

“Yeah.”

“At least mom went to New York with Aaron. She’d be fussing.”

“She just cares about you.”

“I know, but at least when she gets back we’ll be in Europe.” She just grinned. “So what’d ya make for supper?”

“I was making lasagna.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It ain’t your fault.”

“I ruined your evening.”

“No you didn’t.”

“What’d ya want to talk to me about?” She just looked at him. “Was it to say how much you love me?”

“You know me.” She smiled.

“I love you too.” They kissed. “That’s why I want to get married so soon.” She just looked at him.

“Can we not talk about the wedding right now?”

“Why not?”

“Uh…I just want to hear what you need to talk to me about.”

“That can wait until later…when we go home.” He smiled. “I want to talk about the wedding.”

“What about it?”

“I’ve been thinking about this while over seas and I think we should move the wedding up.”

“You want to move the wedding up?”

“Yeah, don’t you think we should?”

“Well…um…uh…I have that movie in March.”

“I know.”

“Nick, I didn’t even start looking for a dress.”

“Why not?” She looked at him. “You have all those bride magazines.”

“I didn’t touch any of them…the girls do. They got them.”

“Oh.”

“Don’t get me wrong, Baby, ‘cause I do want to marry you. I just didn’t think it was time to look yet.” He looked at her. “Like you started looking for a tux.”

“I found a few.” He smiled then got serious. “Princess, you’re always putting off discussing the wedding, why?”

“NO reason. We have nine months, Nicky.”

“I know. I’m just excited.”

“Ya can’t rush these things.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“Weddings take time in planning.”

“We can plan one in four months.”

“Excuse me?”

“I was thinking that we get married in February…around Valentine’s.” She looked at him surprised. “Perhaps the sixteenth or even the fourteenth and have the reception on the sixteenth.”

“You thought about this?”

“Yeah. Father Jacobs is free.”

“Wow…um…”

“You don’t like the idea do ya?”

“It’s not that I don’t like it, Nick, I just think it’s just a little too soon. A Valentine’s wedding sounds romantic though.”

“So you still want to get married in July.”

“For now, unless I change my mind.” She smirked.

“Alright.” She looked at him. “Come here.” He pulled her closer. “I love you.”

“I love you.” She kissed him.

“Mmm, I’ve been missing your kisses all day.”

“We shouldn’t be doing this here.”

“Why not? I’m fine.”

“Means nothing.” She grinned and he kissed her again.
