Kaci and A.J. arrive in Orlando and Denise (A.J.’s mom) takes them to the airport.
“Wow, it’s so pretty,” Kaci says staring at the jet, which has a huge Backstreet Boys logo on it. “Wait, won’t it be obvious who is getting on and off this?”
“Not really. Remember Jive put out that press release that we were in L.A., and our crew uses this as well.”
“Oh, I see. Alright, so let’s get this bad boy up in the air so that we can get to L.A.”
Kaci and A.J. board the plane and once safely in the air, A.J. gives Kaci a tour of the jet.
“And this is a bedroom on the plane,” A.J. says opening a door to a bed.
“Perfect, I’m taking a nap. Wake me up when we get to L.A.,” Kaci says hoping into the bed.
“Well, then I’m joining you if you’re taking a nap.”
A.J. gets into the bed with Kaci and pulls her into his arms and Kaci falls asleep in A.J.’s arms.
“Hey beautiful,” A.J. says, waking Kaci with a kiss.
“Huh, what, where am I?” Kaci asks waking up a bit dazed.
“We’re getting ready to land in L.A., we need to go back out to the front of the jet.”
“Oh, okay,” Kaci says struggling to wake up.
Kaci and A.J. prepare for the jet to land in L.A.
“You know, I never called my dad when we got to Orlando like I was supposed to!”
“Oh well. You can call him when we get to my house.”
“Why wait that long? Have you forgotten how my dad is?”
“Oh yeah, well do what you gotta do to save that sexy ass of yours,” A.J. says smiling.
“The only thing is what if he wants to talk to Nick? Then what am I going to do?”
“Would he really do that?”
“Yes he would, you know that!”
“So tell him that Nick called me to come pick you guys up, but Kaley also called her dad to pick her up, so Nick went with Kaley and you came with me, since you felt bad that I came to pick you guys up.”
“Alright, let’s get in the car before I try and pull this off!”
Kaci and A.J. depart once the plane has landed and get in the SUV that awaits them to take them to A.J.’s house in Malibu.
“Hi daddy,” Kaci says when her dad answers his phone.
“Where are you?”
“Justin really needs to write a song with that title, you should tell him that! I’m in L.A. daddy, we just landed.”
“Oh alright. Don’t forget to go to that thing with your label!”
“I won’t, I promise!”
“Okay, well, I will talk to you after your meeting.”
“Alright daddy. I love you.”
“I love you too Jess.”
Kaci and her dad hang up.
“He didn’t even ask anything! That’s so not like him!”
“Maybe because it’s late there. Don’t worry about it though, I need to take you shopping!”
“Right now?”
“Yes right now. Or would you rather wear the same thing every day while you’re here in Malibu?”
“Okay fine, we’ll go shopping now. But I’m warning you Alex, I’m not down with them damn paparazzi taking my picture, got it?”
“I can’t stop them babe!”
“Then I’m not going! It’s bad enough we were seen together at the hotel!”
“Jess, baby, just come with me shopping, we can go in the back way.”
“To where?”
“Ed Hardy.”
“I’m supposed to wear Ed Hardy to a business meeting?!”
“No, this is just because. I will take care of clothes for you for your meeting with your label later.”
“You are so up to something!”
“I so am not up to something!” A.J. says giving Kaci a face and sticking out his tongue.
Kaci and A.J. go to Ed Hardy and Kaci gets some Ed Hardy outfits compliments of A.J. After the two are done shopping, they head to Malibu.
“Hello,” A.J. says answering his cell phone.
“What’s up?” Kevin asks.
“I’m on my way home. What’s up?”
“Just checking in. I wanted to make sure that you will be at the show tomorrow and the next day.”
“Yeah, I’ll be there.”
“You’re positive about that?”
“Yes, I’m positive, why?”
“Like I said, just making sure. Are you coming with anybody?”
“Yeah, you know I always do.”
“You aren’t bringing that psycho girl, are you?”
“Oh no! We’re done and over with, thank god! That was a huge mistake!”
“You said it, not me!”
“Yeah, I know! So, I’ll talk to you later, alright man.”
“Yeah, that’s fine. Just let me know who you’re bringing.”
“Alright, I’ll talk to you then,” A.J. says then hangs up.
“Who was that?” Kaci questions.
“Kevin. He was just making sure I would be at the next session.”
“Oh, when’s that?”
“Tomorrow.”
“What am I supposed to do then if you have a session with the guys?”
“Well, you come with me, of course. Leighanne and Kristin are usually there. Maybe you three could hang out and do something.”
“Do the guys know that I’m here?”
“I don’t know. I never told them.”
“Well, how are you going to explain that to Brian, Kevin and Howie?”
“Jess baby, why do you care? You have always been cool with the guys. Why all of a sudden are you worried about everything?”
Getting somewhat defensive, Kaci explains her thinking and reasoning behind her being worried about being seen with A.J. and the rest of the Boys.
“Alex, it’s bad enough that I’m already labeled as Justin’s sister. I don’t want it to be that people accuse me of using you to get into the industry as well. I want to make it in this industry because of me, because of my talent, not because of my brother or friends.”
“I understand. I just wish you’d let loose and have fun out here. Who cares what other people think? We surely don’t and we’ve been in the business for ten years!” *Note: this is taking place in 2003.*
Arriving at his house, A.J. decides not to bring up the subject any more.
“We’re here,” A.J. says getting out of the SUV reaching for Kaci’s hand.
“Figures,” Kaci says getting out of the SUV.
“What?”
“You having a yellow house,” Kaci says laughing.
“Well, not for long! When we go back to Florida, you’re helping me pick out a house in West Palm.”
“What, am I going to live there too?” Kaci says half jokingly.
“Well, if you want to, you will be more than welcome to.”
Kaci and A.J. go inside his house and A.J. shows Kaci around the house, saving his room for last.
“So where am I going to sleep while I’m out here in California.”
“I saved that for last,” A.J. says grabbing Kaci’s hand and leading her towards his bedroom.
“Oh no you didn’t,” Kaci says realizing where A.J. is taking her.
“What?” A.J. says innocently, yet with a smile on his face.
“If I’m staying here in your room, then where are you sleeping?”
“My room. Where else would I sleep?”
“And what else do you have up your sleeve that you think you’re going to get away with?”
“I guess you’ll have to wait and see, now won’t you?” A.J. says as he sits down on his bed.
“You are so bad!”
“Well,” A.J. says holding out his hands for Kaci, “if you want it to be good,” he says pulling Kaci into his arms, “you gotta get a bad boy.”
“Oh god, no you did NOT just say that!” Kaci says laughing hysterically.
“What, you know it’s true!”
“Why would you say something like that?”
“It got you to laugh, didn’t it?”
“It was the cheesiest thing you’ve EVER said! Who actually says that?”
“I’m going to bed, are you going to join me or not?”
“Why are you avoiding that question?”
Getting up and going into his bathroom to change into his pajamas, A.J. continues to avoid Kaci’s question.
“I was trying to get you to lighten up, not question me about what I said.”
“Fine, I’m going to bed, goodnight.”
Kaci gets in bed, pulls the covers over her and tries to go to sleep.
“Why are you being like this with me?”
“I’m tired Alex, I would like to go to sleep.”
“But you’ve never been like this with me, why now all of a sudden?”
“I’m tired Alex!”
“Fine,” A.J. says, annoyed with Kaci, wondering why he had to fall so hard for someone young.
