![]() The next few days were emotional for A.J. He couldn't really concentrate because of what Cassandra had done to him and he couldn’t sleep. “Damn it, why can't I let this go. I need to find something to keep me busy,” A.J. said to himself. AJ made his way to the den and sat at his desk where unfinished lyrics were laid in front of him. He knew it was time for him to finish one of the songs. He read the words as he made his way to the piano and played a melody. He was pleased with what he heard. “Sounds good,” he thought to himself. “Now time for the words,” he said out loud. “Oooooh oooh oooohhh oohhhhh Mmmmm mmmm mmm mmmm. You're in my mind all the time, my thoughts are always of you. There are so many things that we promised each other that we would do.” "Oh my god, this sounds like Cassandra. I can't do this," he said. After a few minutes he gave up and went back to bed. "A.J. think of the fans, you don't need Cassandra. You will find someone better. The Backstreet Boys aren't the Backstreet Boys without you,” a voice said. He made his way back to the piano, sat down, and started to sing again. He closed his eyes and sang with a lot of emotion. “But since you went away, my heart has been in so much pain. It seems that everything we've been through has been in vain. I can't stop thinking of you, and I wouldn't if I could. But I can't keep waking up with dreams of you. I should have known when you told me you loved me that you were deceiving. I have faith that the hurt that I feel deep inside will soon be leaving.” “Remember the fans are your inspiration," he said to himself and continued. “But now I'm all alone, and I can't stop thinking of you. To hold you in my arms once again is all I wanna do. And I can't stop thinkin of you and I wouldn't if I could. But I can't keep waking up with dreams of you.” After working an hour straight he got the song done and added the finishing touches. "I can't wait until the guys hear this! What should I do now?" he pondered. "I know, I need to check my messages," he said and walked downstairs to the answering machine. When he got there A.J. listened to the tape and fast-forwarded through the messages he didn’t want to hear. After a while he heard a familiar voice. "Hey it’s me. I was wondering if you weren’t busy if you would like to go out for dinner. Give me a call back.” That voice, he knew who that was. He thought it over for a few minutes and decided to call the person that voice belonged to. "Is that invitation still open? Okay give me about 30 minutes and I will be over," he said and hung up.
