Chapter 2

All of a sudden everyone in the church heard a loud crash from the Bridal room.

"What was that? " Jenny said.

"Honey, I think it's time that we went and checked on him," Jackie said.

"Yes, I think he has had enough time alone. Can you take Caroline?" Howie asked Jenny.

"Sure," Jenny replied.

"Daddy loves you little one, mommy and I will be right back," Howie said and kissed Caroline's forehead handing her to Jenny.

"Okay, let's go," Jackie said.

As Jackie and Howie walked in they noticed broken glass scattered everywhere. They spotted A.J. sitting in the corner sobbing quietly.

"J, you okay?" Howie asked. A.J. didn't hear or notice them and continued to sob.

A few minutes later Jackie went up to him to comfort him.

"How could Cassandra do this to me? I loved her. How?" A.J. asked has he searched Jackie's eyes for answers.

"I don't really know. I wish I did but J, everything happens for a reason. Maybe she wasn't the right one for you. There is someone out there, you taught me that. Remember when I was heart broken over my break up with Mark? I wasn't myself, but you taught me to love again. Now look at me, I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful little girl who adores you." Jackie said.

About an hour later, after talking to Jackie, AJ had calmed down. Howie talked to him as Jackie handed A.J. a tissue to wipe his face off.

"I know this isn't the right time to ask, but are you ready to go out there?" Howie asked.

"I can't go out there! I feel like I have let everyone down!" he said.

"But it wasn't your fault, you have to realize that," Jackie said.

"I know its not. I just would like to go home, do you mind?" A.J. asked with a sigh.

"But,” Howie said.

"Don't fight him on this. You know he isn't in the mood to go out there," Jackie whispered to Howie.

"Why don't you go home and get some rest. We will take care of everything here," Jackie said.

"You are a life saver," A.J. said and hugged her.

"Don't worry about it." she said and looked at her husband. "Why don't you take him home? Everyone will understand why he left," Jackie said.

As Howie pulled up to the house, A.J. noticed it was dark. Before getting out they spoke for a few minutes. Howie was really concerned about AJ. He had never seen him like this. Howie knew he owed it to him to stay there. If it weren't for A.J., Jackie wouldn't have given their relationship a chance.

"Are you sure you're going to be okay? I can call Jackie and let her know I am staying with you," Howie said.

"I'll be fine. I just need to get some rest, it's been a long day. Go home to your wife and daughter. Thanks for everything," A.J. said.

"I'm just being a friend like you were with me awhile back. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have a family. My marriage would be over and I wouldn't see my daughter. Call us anytime you need to," Howie said as A.J. got out of the car. When A.J. opened the door to the house, he felt a chill come over him. He went straight to bed and fell asleep crying.
