A dream:
She was wandering through the forest, and seemed to have lost her way. She saw a spring, and walked towards it. Calune knelt and cupped her hands. She splashed some of the cool, crisp water on her face, and was about to drink, when she saw a face's reflection in the water. It was a woman with large eyes, milky skin, and wavy chestnut-colored tresses. The woman was surrounded in golden and silver-flecked light. Calune looked up, and saw the woman whose reflection was cast upon the unsure surface of the water. This woman spoke.

"You are hungry," she said in an entrancing voice. "This is indeed as the garden of Eden, and you must eat from the Tree of Knowledge. This will free you, and prepare you for what you must do. Waste not your time here; the sands grow shallow. Now go."
After the last word was spoken, all was black.

Calune awoke, startled by the suddenness of this dark. The words of the woman still haunted her. "Go," she had said, and so Calune stood up. She stumbled at first, but was able to catch her balance. The moonlight shone upon the dew, and it looked as if diamonds had been scattered about the floor of the clearing. Calune was no longer sleepy. She wondered what the woman had meant when she had tols Calune to 'eat from the tree of knowledge.' Whatever it was, she knew it was important somehow. Although it was still night, Calune decided to venture on.

She wandered, not knowing what she was searching for, but felt assured that she would know it when it came within her sights. The wind blew softly, adding the sound of the rustling of leaves to what once was silence. Calune spied something peculiar to her side, and turned. Silver and gold-flecked light, just like the kind that had surrounded the woman in the dream, could be seen through small spaces in a screen of trees. She slipped through, and saw what she had been looking for.

It was a grand tree, bearing tempting ripe fruits, and surrounded by that light. Calne stepped closer toward it. This was it; that was what she had been searching for. Her hand began to rise, of its own accord, and she watched it curiously. The hand drew near a plump fruit, and plucked it. A soft humming sounded in Calune's ears as her hand did so. She flinched a little. Her hand brought the fruit to her mouth, and suddenly she wanted nothing more than to taste it. Her mouth opened, and she bit it. The fruit was filled with juice, and such sweetness! She greedily devoured the whole thing, spitting the juice-stained seeds into her hand. She brushed them out, and stood for a moment, savoring the juicy sweetness that lingeres still in her mouth. Soon Calune began to feel odd, and so she sat down, her back leaning against the tree. She watched the metallic flakes dance, and suddenly she understood. The foolishness of everything she had done previous dawned on her. She realized that she had much to think about, and retreated into the depths of her mind. Her eyes trailed off into the distance, and before her she could see the dawn's light reflecting off the buildings of the city. The city.

Calune had arrived.
