Chapter Eight

I arrived at the cafe 30 minutes later. I spotted AJ sitting in a booth at the far end of the cafe. 'He looks good.' I thought to myself. 'Stop it! You already have a boyfriend.' As I approached him I was wishing my mid-thigh length skirt was down to my knees. Better yet my ankles. I could feel his eyes wandering over my body. 'He still is the AJ I left 2 years ago.'

"Hey," he said as I sat down in the booth.

"Hey," I replied back.

There was an uncomfortable silence. I could see him shifting uneasily in his seat. Finally I broke the silence.

"So what did you want to talk about. I have to be back at work in 30 minutes," I lied. I could be gone all afternoon and nobody would notice.

"Well, I just...uh..wanted to um.."

"Can I take your order?" the waitress interrupted.

"Um yeah." I answered. "I'll take a croissant and an orange juice."

"Nothing for me," AJ said.

The waitress scurried into the kitchen to get my order. "So what were you going to say?" I asked him.

"Well...I just wanted to say that I'm sorry and I hope you forgive me for any sorrow or grief that I have caused you and I hope that we can be friends again."

I had to smile at this. He looked so cute with his red had and trademark sunglasses. He looked off to the side for a second and I caught a glimpse of the brown eyes and long eyelashes that I could stare at for eternity.

The waitress came back. "Here you go," she said as she put my glass and plate down.

"Thanks," I said. I turned my attention back to AJ. "Of course I forgive you. It's really no big deal....anymore. We've always been friends and I have no hard feelings." I took a sip of my juice to divert my eyes. I knew that if I had another look at his eyes we'd be in the same bed by the end of the day. "Look, I gotta run. Here's my number if you wanna call or just hang out," I said as I scribbled my number on a napkin.

I reached into my purse to get my wallet but he touched my arm.

"It's on me," he said.

I could only give him a weak smile. I felt a thousand emotions at once when he touched my arm. I walked toward the exit and gave him a final smile. He looked so damn hot! I drove back to the office in a daze. It was a miracle that I didn't get in an accident.

"So...." Anne said before I could even put my foot in the door.

"He looked so damn hot! But shhh," I said as I put my finger up tp my lips, "don't tell Trey."

We giggled like school girls telling each other who their crush was.
