Chapter
Six
"Sammy is that you?" the tattooed stranger asked
again.
"Yes it's me...AJ."
"Oh. How have you been?"
"Fine. Do you take checks?" I asked the girl.
"Umm no."
I fished around some more and finally found a ten.
I grabbed our food and began to walk away but AJ grabbed my arm.
"So do you live here now?" he asked.
"Yeah. I gotta go now. They're waiting for the food,"
I said as I nodded my head towards Gabby and Trey.
I slid into the booth and was practically
attacked.
"Gee hunrgy much?" I asked Trey
"No," he said with sarcasm dripping in his voice. "So...who
was that?"
"Him?" I pointed to AJ. "Oh he's just an old
friend."
"Mommy where's my toys?"
"It's in the bag sweetie."
AJ walked past us and said "So I'll see you
around."
"Yeah sure."
He walked out the door.
"Mommy who dat?"
I almost blurted out 'your father' but he could never
know. I had to hide her eyes from him. They had the exact same chocolate
brown eyes. "A friend. Nobody important."

AJ was stunned to see Sammy in Orlando. He was even
more stunned to see that she and her boyfriend already had a baby. Even though
she left him 2 years ago, she looked the same, if not more beautiful.
He pulled up in his driveway to see Nick walking back
to his car.
"Hey man." he said as he walked up to AJ's car. "I
called and you weren't home so I stopped by to see if you wanted to go to
the mall with me. That really hot girl that works at Journey's is working
today."
"I saw Sammy today." AJ said
"Sammy? Sammy who?"
"Sammy Baker. Ex-girlfriend Sammy."
"Oh! THAT Sammy." This was no big surprise to Nick
because he knew Sammy was living here and he had already been to her and
Trey's house. Twice.
"That's not even the big part. She had a daughter with
her NEW boyfriend."
"Can we go to the mall now?"
"Nah. I'm not really up for going out now."
AJ entered his house tossing the McDonald's bag on
the counter. He headed for his room and flopped on the bed.
"I can't believe she has a daughter." he said to himself.
"I wonder where she lives. She'll probably think I'm a stalker if I visited
her. She looked so beautiful. I don't even deserve her. I was such a bastard
to her."
He looked up at the ceiling.
"I wonder what our baby would've looked like."
He drifted off to sleep dreaming of Sammy and what
their "unborn" baby would've looked like.
