What assistance have you provided and why? What was the best experience you have had helping others and what made it special for you? What is your opinion on voluntary service activities at school? Many school systems, private and public, are making service a mandatory aspect of graduation. How do you feel about that?

2. Misperceptions are a major theme in this episode. They are funny in this show, but can be very emotionally painful in real life. The whole family has a misperception of the catering service or the young woman who answers the phone for the service. What is their misperception of the young woman? What is the young woman's, who answers the phone at the catering service, misperceptions about the Clampetts? What is Granny's misperception about the Kangaroo? 3. Granny takes most of the show trying to make Jed believe that she has seen a five foot jack rabbit. Describe a situation where you have tried to make others believe something seemed outrageous...did you succeed or fail, why?

4. In this episode we begin to see that Elly May has a soft heart for animals. Granny complains that Elly has taken all the vittals and made them into pets. How many pets do you have? What is your favorite pet and why? If you don't have a pet, what kind would you have if you were allowed and why?

5. After Granny complains about having no food in the house, Jethro remembers that Mrs. Hathaway said there was a "person," Beverly Caterers, who would deliver food to rich people. They then comment that if this "woman" does for them, then they'll help her out. Jed makes the comment, "we don't take charity!" Many people feel this way. Discuss why you think people have difficulty receiving help or charity?

6. The terms eccentric and nut are used in this episode. What are the differences between the two and what does the concept of money play into these differences?
