It was a cold afternoon in
Chicago, Illinois. A young street punk named
Nicholas Kelly was standing outside the infamous
Chicago Stadium. He watched as the people around
the building were fleeting to their cars and
limos following what appeared to be a
professional wrestling card. This was no street
thug type. No this kid was cool and tough. He had
an "I can kick anyones ass anytime!"
kind of attitude. He happened to see this
amazingly beautiful woman come walking out of the
building. She was a complete stunner. Long jet
black hair, beautiful blue eyes, and the longest
legs you could ever imagine. Nick made it a point
to talk to this lady. He stepped in front of her
and began to turn on the charm. The lady was
immediately taken aback by his charming ways and
quick wit. The two engaged in a conversation for
the better part of about 10 minutes when this
larger than life individual, decked out in one of
the most awesome Armani suits ever created, came
walking out the door. He stopped in disbelief
that there was someone with the balls enough to
be standing there hitting on HIS woman. That
larger than life man, was none other than the
"Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Flair proceeded
to introduce himself to the young man, who in
return met his name with the words "So?
And?". Ric immediately took a liking to this
kid. After Ric slapped him around a few times, he
proceeded to tell young Nick Kelly that he wanted
him to work with him. Ric Flair saw something in
this young man that caused dollar signs to appear
in Flair's head. After explaining to Nick Kelly
what he had in mind and the potential money
involved, Nick Kelly finally agreed.Nick
Kelly's beginning in this sport was anything but
glamorous. It was countless hours of training in
some of the darkest and most dingy gyms ever
seen. No expenses were spared, as Flair paid for
the best. When the time came for Nick to learn
the power game, Mike Higginbottom, formerly Road Warrior Hawk, was brought in. For the
scientific aspects, long time Flair friend and
adversary, Ricky Steamboat was chosen. But for
the mind games, and the psycological aspects no
one knew more than the Nature Boy himself, and he
added the help of his longtime friend, Arn
Anderson. The problem they began to have,
however, was that Nick Kelly was learning way too
fast. They couldn't keep up with him anymore.
They couldn't wait any longer, it was time to debut
this young man into the world of Professional
Wrestling. They didn't want to toss him to the
wolves first time out, so instead, it was a six
man tag match pitting Flair, Anderson, and Nick
Kelly against Dustin Rhodes, Kendall Windham, and
another youngster named Paul Roma, himself a
future Horseman. It was only about 4 minutes into
the match when Kelly begged to be tagged in. What
happened next was more than even Flair himself
could have imagined. Kelly beat Windham down in
the corner with lefts and rights. He then
proceeded to Irish Whip Kendall into his own
corner where he was able to tag in Dustin Rhodes.
Immediately, Nick Kelly bounced off the ropes and
as Dustin ducked his head to step into the ring,
he was met immediately by a spinning neck
breaker. Kelly slowly walked across the ring and
stood in a neutral corner. Very reluctantly, Paul
Roma tagged in the match. He made his way to
the center of the ring, and there he was met by Nick
Kelly's outstretched hand. Roma slowly went to
accept the seeming sign of friendship, but at the
last second, Nick pulled slightly back then gave
a quick knife-edge jab to Roma's throat, causing
Roma to fall to one knee. Nick reached down and
stood Roma back up. He grabbed Roma's arm in a
pump-handle type position and then turned and
looked at Flair with a "Watch This"
kind of glance. In one fluid motion, he lifted
the man way into the air before slamming him hard
to the mat, himself also falling to the mat to
add to the already devestating impact. Flair's
eyes open wide in both pride, and what also might
have been read as fear. Had Flair unleashed an
uncontrolable beast? Only time would tell. The
pin was academic, as Nick covered him with a
textbook cover, even going so far as to hook the
legs. Flair, Anderson, and Kelly raised their
arms in victory. Flair offered Nick Kelly a
position within his about to be reformed version
of the Horsemen. Nick Kelly declined his mentors
offer saying he had to find his own way from here
on out, but would owe Flair a major favor for the
lesson and the opportunity Flair gave him.
Ironically, Paul Roma was the man to take the
available slot, and for the Horsemen, the rest
was history. But for Nick Kelly, history was
about to be written.
Nick set
out onto the independant scene to make a name for
himself. He took on the monnicker of "All
Natural" Nick Kelly in honor of his mentor,
"Nature Boy" Ric Flair. After winning
various independant titles, Nick Kelly had
finally found his nitche in life. After an
independant card, Nick Kelly was approached by a
man promising him a bright future in this
business. A new federation had formed to
challenge the big 3 of WCW, WWF, and at the time,
ECW. This federation was known as Xtreme
Championship Wrestling, or the XCW. The man he
was chatting with was XCW Vice President
Ricketts, who set up a meeting with one of the
most influential Commissioner's and Presidents in
the business, President Hall of the XCW. After
lengthy discussions with the XCW offices, Nick
Kelly once again sought the advice of Ric Flair.
In response to the questions, Flair told Kelly
his destiny was written for him well before that
chance meeting outside the Chicago Stadium, and
that he had what it took to be the best in this
game. Nick Kelly signed that contract with XCW,
and his legacy has been thusfar amazing with his
holding of the XCW Hardcore, United States, North
American, and Television titles all within 6
months of being there. Nick then went on to
become the single most dominant XCW World
Champion of all time. But the legacy was only
beginning. A few months later, Nick Kelly won the
XCW World Title in a three way dance and
continued to hold it until the day the federation
drew to a close. During those final moments, Nick
made his way to a new land, the land of the WFW.
It was in
the WFW, that Nick Kelly would set the world on
fire by challenging and defeating Anson Drake to
become the first ever Unified World Champion,
holding both the WFW as well as the XCW World
Titles before tossing the defunct XCW's title in
the trash as a symbol of its demise. Nick would
go on to hold various other titles along his career in
the WFW prior to that World title victory, and
then, strangly out of the blue, noting personal
reasons, Nick Kelly disappeared, and the title
was vacated.
But now is
the dawning of a new era. Nick Kelly is back and
he is back with a vengence. The one time force
behind Dangerous Intentions has brought his brand
of kicking asses and taking names to the NIWF. I
would hate to be the men who stands in his way!
