Brooklyn Brawler vs Johnny Swinger

BCW New Years Revolution
January 15, 2003

Brooklyn Brawler vs Johnny Swinger (c)
Johnny Swinger had just competed in a triple threat match vs Gangrel and "The Future" Chris Sabin. Swinger came through the match with his championship intact thanks mainly to his teaming with Sabin for most of the match as well as a belt shot to Gangrel when the ref was down. Afterwards Swinger got on the mic and said he's been coming for 2 years, and he has never sucked. He said all of the "stinking Canadians" are the ones who suck. He went on to say he's beaten every major name who has come through BCW, and has nothing left to prove. Swinger then asked everyone to stand up, form a single-file line, and come into the ring to kiss his ass. Suddenly, the one and only Brooklyn Brawler appeared on the stage. Brawler said he has to give Swinger credit, and that he is number one - the number one jackass to ever be in a BCW ring. He said Swinger may call himself the longest reigning champion, but at over four years, his reign is even longer. He challenged Swinger to a title match, and hit the ring.

Swinger went for a figure four leglock to force Brawler into submission, but Brawler rolled him up into a small package, and held him down for a three-count, therefore becoming the new BCW Heavyweight Champion. Brawler nailed the former champ with a hard belt shot afterwards, and left the Ciociaro Club carrying the gold.

In the mere hours following NYR, Johnny Swinger along with his attorney petitioned BCW's Board of Directors regarding what they felt was an extremely unjust situation. On behalf of Swinger, his attorney presented the argument that although the Brooklyn Brawler pinned Swinger, Brawler was NOT an active member of the Border City Wrestling roster at the time. He also lobbied that Swinger had just successfully defended his prestigious title against Gangrel and "The Future" Chris Sabin just moments before putting it on the line against Brawler. The points were valid, and made for a strong case. Therefore, the Board was left with no alternative but to strip Brawler of the belt and return it to Swinger.
