chapter 11

Jeff gently got up from the bed after staying with Leah until she calmed down and fell asleep in his arms. He closed the door on his way from the room. He leaned back against it and closed his eyes.

He wasn't mad at Leah, he knew how it felt to want another person. He had wanted her like that and in the beginning Matt. He couldn't understand Matt's reaction. He knew the he thought of Leah's as 'theirs', which made Jeff mad but he never said anything about it.

He walked down the stairs and wrote Leah a note explaining he had gone to find Matt and talk to him. He went out of the front of the house and sighed as he remembered Matt had taken his car. He walked down and out of the drive and then to the end of the street where he could see his car in the house he and Matt shared. He walked towards it and sighed when he heard music blaring out from the house. He let himself and he saw Matt sitting on the bottom step of the stairs. He walked over and knelt down in front of him. Matt looked up at him with tear filled eyes.

"How could she? How could she do that?"

"She's in love Matt."

"Yeh, with us! Or so I thought."

"She loves us Matt, but she loves Amy to."

"NO! She is meant to be with us not Amy."

"She doesn't have to be with us Matt. She wants to be. But if you treat her this bad because she fell in love then I don't think you, or we are going to have her for much longer."

"She cheated on us Matt."
"Yeh she did. But that's not a crime Matt. You cheated on her and me remember?"

"Jeff don't. That was different."

"No Matt. You have on rule for yourself and another for everyone else. You think it's ok for you to betray me and her and you wanted us to forgive and forget."

"And you did."

"Yes because we love you. But how do you think she is feeling? See did what you done but Leah and Amy mean something to each other! It wasn't just a one night stand." Jeff said standing up and walking away form Matt.

"You know how sorry I am about that!" Matt said standing up. "But Leah isn't sorry for what she did!"

"No she isn't And do you know why Matt??!! Huh?!" Jeff said stalking up to his brother. "Because she is in love with Amy, she told me and Amy loves her. There is a difference Matt but maybe, just maybe you are taking Leah for granted, you talk about her like she is your possession. She isn't Matt. And as long as you talk about her like that you can forget abut me and you!!" Jeff shouted at his brother before he ran upstairs and trying to calm himself down. He soon returned downstairs and grabbed his car keys from the table and headed to the door.

"Jeff." Matt's voice came from the other side of the room.

"What?" Was Jeff's cold frosty reply.

"I need to talk to you."

"No Matt. I'm going to stay with Leah. She's upset and needs someone around her to care for her."
"She has Amy." Matt snapped.

"No. Amy left after you did. And I'm not leaving her alone. She cried herself to sleep Matt, all because of you. You hurt her bad Matt." Jeff said as he opened the door and walked out.

Amy sat on the wall of the front garden of Leah's house. She sat staring up at the house when she watched Jeff's car pull into the driveway. he walked up to her.

"You ok?" He asked placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"No. I ruined things between you three. I should have stayed away from her."

"you love her don't you?"

"Yeh."

"Then you can't regret it. I know Leah doesn't."

"But after the way Matt left she will."

"No she won't. She's not like that. She is young Amy but she is far from naive. She needs someone to care for her but it doesn't mean she isn't strong. Matt's being an ass and i more or less told him that if he doesn't sort himself out there i no more me and him. I won't have him treat Leah as a possession."

"He loves her."

"I know but that doesn't give him and right to treat her that way."

"But she doesn't know about it."
"I know but I do and that hurts me."

"Jeff, do you think me and Leah made a mistake?"

"There are no mistakes in love Ames."

"But do you...would you hate the idea of me and Leah?"

"No."

"I mean if she is still with you...and maybe Matt?"

"It doesn't bother me Ames, if she's in love with all three of us then why can't she have all three of us. And I know all three of us love her."

"That's true. It's just that I messed things up between her and Matt."

"No you didn't. He did that himself." Jeff said as he readjusted his bandana. "Come on, lets go see Leah." He said and Amy got of the wall and followed him into the house.
