Chapter 17

Jeff pulled into the dusty parking lot, parking beside
Matts' car. Kendall scrunched up her nose, looking out
the windshield.

"Welcome to Hillbilly Lodge." She shuttered at the red
wooden building, "Jeff it looks like an old barn done
over into a bar."

"It is you little city girl. I suggest you get that
look off your face before the rednecks smell your
fear." He tapped her nose to smooth out the wrinkles;
"You look cute like that."

She blushed, looking away, "This place is crawling
with hillbilly's already."

He groaned reaching back for his bag, "If I get into a
fight defending you I'm gonna be pissed. You have to
be a commoner like the rest of us tonight. No heiress
talk tonight."

She glared at him, "You are so in trouble for that
comment mister."

He laughed getting out of the car and locking his
door. Kendall reached for her door but he beat her to
it.

"You didn't think I'd let you get out by yourself did
ya?"

"Never." She gripped his hand tightly as they entered
through the back door.

The ring from Sunday was set up in the middle of the
bar room. She eyed the stage that contained a folding
table, two folding chairs and some sound equipment.
She had to give Matt credit though. He went all out
with every show. Making do with what he had. She
continued to look around realizing that, unlike the
school, there was not much room between the ring and
the chairs this time. She waved to Matt as he stood on
a chair in the other doorway hanging up a black
curtain.

"Where do we change?" Jeff dropped his bag down,
catching the curtain.

"There's a changing room down the hall to the left.
It's really small so we can only change a few at a
time."

"How few?"

Matt rolled his eyes, "Like two. So I figure the first
six will all have to be ready right at seven so the
show will run smoothly, allowing the rest to change
during the others matches. Welcome to our world again
Kendall."

"Thanks Matt. Does this place get crowded?" she turned
around looking at the room again.

"We've never been here before so I don't know. The
owner said he had a lot of inquiries about the show
ever since they hung up the posters. Should be
interesting. There's a crowd already out there in the
other half where the bar is." He jumped down from the
chair, "Jeff Wolf's first."

Jeff nodded, "Yeah alright." He placed his hands on
his hips looking down at Kendall, who was still
scowling at the place, "Stop that."

She shrugged, "Sorry."

"Willow's the fifth match."

"Oh man."

"Who's Willow?" she curled up her lip at Matt.

Matt looked at her like she grew two heads, "Jeffs'
other persona. The one with the mask."

Her mouth dropped open, "That was YOU? I had no clu."
then smiled, "Never mind."

"Never mind what?" he nudged her shoulder playfully,
"What's wrong with Willow?"

"You were pantsed at the last show." She cracked up
laughing; "He's horrible."

"Thanks a lot. Some girlfriend you are."

"Oh stop pouting ya big baby. Matt where can I sit so
that I don't get hit but still be able to see you
guys?"

"Uh probably right over there." Matt pointed over to
the corner; adjacent from the stage to a small wooden
table surrounded by four plastic lawn chairs "You, dad
and your grandfather can sit there away from the ring
but close to watch."

She nodded, looking at her watch, "Thanks. It's
getting close to six thirty you guys better go change.
I'll go take my seat and wait for the others."

"Ok. I'll see you later. Come on Jeff."

Jeff held his hand up, "I'll be right there. Hey come
here."

She fell into his arms as he kissed her forehead,
"What?"

He kissed her forehead again, down to her nose finally
getting to her lips. He kissed her slowly, slipping
his tongue past her lips into the warm wet heat of her
mouth. He pressed her body hard against his, the heat
searing through each other. She caressed the sides of
his neck, feeling his muscles in his neck. They pulled
apart reluctantly, out of breath.

"Good luck." She whispered with a smile.

He released her, groaning as he picked up his bag,
"I'll see you in awhile."

"Hey!" she called to him as he started through the
curtain, getting him to turn back.

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

"I love you too." He blew her a kiss as he disappeared
behind the curtain.

        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If Kendall knew one thing she was going to do when she
turned 21 was never go into bars. The smoke was
killing her and the crowd was just rowdy. Drunks
yelling at each other, spilling beer on one another
and groping the waitresses. This was not for her. Jeff
called it; she was a city girl. As shallow as that may
make her, she didn't care.
She sat between her granddaddy and Gilbert, nestled
into the corner away from the rowdy patrons. A few
minutes later, a gentleman wearing a suit got into the
ring, making an announcement and thanking people for
coming. She barely heard him over the drunk next to
her begging for the women wrestlers. She shook her
head, sipping on her soda when the familiar music hit.
She leaned over to her grandfather, shouting, "Gramps
this is Jeff."
"Alright." He nodded then turned his attention to
Jeff.
Gilbert beamed with pride as Jeff jumped through the
curtain to the loud cheers of the crowd. He was a fan
favorite. A babyface Matt had tried to explain the
whole thing to her but it was Greek for now. In time
she knew she would get it.
Jeff made his way around the ring, shaking hands like
he had done before then stopped in front of their
table. He shook gramps hand and hugged his father. He
then pointed to her, laughing as her cheeks turned
bright red. He leaned over the table coming close to
her face, his lips brushing hers sending the crowd
into a frenzy.
"I love you Kendall Morgan." He whispered before
taking off jumping into the ring.
Strangers were patting her on the back from behind,
congratulating her. For what she had no idea,
something else for Matt to explain to her.
"I've never heard those words pass my sons lips
before. You have his heart Miss. Kendall."
She touched her lips, smiling as she watched him
grapple in the ring.
They made it through the show. Her granddaddy giggling
uncontrollably with Gilbert at Willow. Kendall
constantly telling them to knock it off or they'd hurt
Jeffs' feelings.
"He should. He looks like a freak." Was Gilberts'
response.
Kendall yawned as the show ended and they waited for
the crowd to thin out before hunting down the guys.
The patrons were getting louder by the drink and the
room was blue with smoke. She surveyed the room again
realizing that despite the fact that all the wrestlers
were guys, there was only a handful of women in
attendance. Her included.
Gilbert and Michael talked about what amazing athletes
the boys were, Gilbert bragging happily to Michael as
Kendall listened while waiting for Jeff. She was glad
to be here with him to support him but now all she
wanted to do was go home with him. The deep kiss from
before was still fresh in her mind. Her body was tired
from being up so late packing and getting up so early
to move. She rubbed her eyes, looking at her watch
then back to the crowd. None of them went anywhere so
it was safe to assume that they were waiting for the
wrestlers too.
"I just saw a tiny group of girls go behind the
curtain, the fellas must be out there. It's gonna be a
long night kiddo." Gilbert patted her hand as she
smiled weakly.
"This cigarette smoke is killing me." She rubbed her
eyes again as they began to water.
"You okay cupcake?"
She nodded, "Yes. I'm just going to go get some fresh
air. I'll be right back."
It had cooled down a great deal in the few hours that
they'd been inside. Her coat was locked in the car so
she held herself tightly, inhaling the crisp fresh
air.
"Aren't you the one Wolverine kissed?"
The voice startled her as it came from out of nowhere.
She turned around to face two girls standing behind
her. Kendall forced out a smile. "Yeah."
"I've been after him for months. I travel to see him."
She moved closer to Kendall. She was quite pretty. She
had thick black hair and was made up with makeup. She
was a lot taller than Kendall or was it the stilettos?
Her tight black leggings and equally tight black
halter-top showed off her gorgeous body. She could've
been a model. Kendall noticed that her chest was
bigger than hers too. Now she felt like a little girl.
"Oh." She rubbed her arms, "Big fans?"
The other one scoffed, "Yeah something like that."
Kendall frowned at her friend who was just as built
and beautiful as her. She tried to figure out what she
meant by that then figuring by the tone in her voice
she really didn't want to.
"We're what's called ring rats."
"Excuse me?" Kendall definitely didn't want to hear
the rest of this now.
The girls laughed in unison.
"Ring rats. A wrestling term for groupie."
Kendall was starting to get pissed, "And you want
Wolverine?"
The first girl laughed a sinister laugh, "Honey I've
already had him."
Kendall felt like she'd been hit in the stomach. Jeff
had slept with this thing and now she still wanted
him.
"See wrestlers get lonely after a show especially one
far away from home. They're either so lonely or so
horny that they can't think straight. This is where we
come in. I've been screwing Jeff for months."
Kendall gritted her teeth listening to this witch. She
knew he wasn't a virgin but to have slept with this
thing, he was so talking about this later.
"I was supposed to meet up with him Sunday after the
show but he showed up later and now I see him hear
with you. I hope you're not thinking you can tie him
down. He's not like that. He's a wild one and a free
spirit. Variety is the spice of his life."
She replayed the word in her head. Later. He was with
her later Sunday after he dropped her off. Her head
started spinning, her mind drawing all kinds of
conclusions.
"He can't stay faithful to anyone. He's been through
two girlfriends since I've been screwing him. He gets
too horny and when his chicks aren't there he grabs
the nearest ring rat. He has quite a sex drive that
needs to be satisfied.IMMEDIATELY." She smirked to her
friend then to Kendall.
Kendall had had enough. She was trying to stay calm
because it always got ugly when she blew her top.
"What's your name?"
"I'm Tina."
Kendall nodded her head as she reached for the door,
"Well Tina I'll be sure to tell Wolverine you said hi
as I'm fucking him at my place later tonight." She
left the girls standing there; jaws dropped and eyes
wide.
"Bitches." She muttered slamming the door behind
herself.
