Chapter 2
Part two.
Kane and his tag team partner X-Pac followed the ambulance, which carried The
Kat. Both sat in silence praying there was nothing too serious wrong. Concussion
was more than likely but hopefully her neck and back wouldn’t be seriously
injured. When they arrived at the hospital Kane tried to follow the gurney
carrying Kat into the emergency room but a nurse and X-Pac ushered him towards
the desk to help fill out forms. Speaking in front of people he didn’t know
very well was always a problem for Kane and now with the worry weighing on his
shoulders all he could manage was a couple incoherent sounds and a stuttered
apology. X-Pac lead him away before the Big Red Machine completely broke down.
It felt like hours had passed whilst they sat waiting for news. People in the
waiting room with them continually threw strange looks in their direction which
was hardly surprising considering both of them still had there ring attire on. A
little boy of about 4 or 5 kept asking his mum why the scary man wearing a mask
was crying but luckily Kane never heard. Eventually a young doctor approached
them, "Excuse me are you with the young lady who was involved in the
wrestling accident?" Both men jumped up hurriedly, nodding their heads. The
doctor tried not to shrink away at Kane's size but failed miserably however he
managed to keep his voice steady when he asked them to follow him.
Kat lay in the hospital bed wincing with pain when she turned towards the door
as it opened. "You're here" she exclaimed when she saw Kane.
"Come and give me a hug" Kane barely touched her terrified he would be
hurting her. "I'm not going to break, it hurt but I'm still in one piece,
aren't I?" Kane nodded thankful there wasn't any serious damage. Kat filled
him and X-Pac in on what the doctors had said and the fact that she would have
to stay in a couple of nights for observation. Kane instantly demanded to be
able to stay with her. Which Kat instantly stopped. "You know you're
supposed to be going to WWF New York tomorrow night!”. She saw he was trying
to avoid going and she knew she had to be firm with him, “You will go and you
will enjoy yourself. Do you understand?” She thought saw a slight flicker of
fright in his eyes but dismissed it as concern for her being left on her own.
She knew he didn't really like being with crowds of people especially those he
didn't know but X-Pac would be there to look out for him. Knowing she wouldn’t
back down even if she was confined to a hospital bed Kane unwillingly agreed
which made Kat smile. At that moment a nurse arrived to say visiting hours were
nearly over and they must leave. Once they had said their good-byes and the door
had been shut Kat sat back and wondered if she had done that right thing...
