Chapter 39
Leah
smiled and walked down into the living room and curled up on the sofa and Jeff
sat at her side. Matt placed the boxes of pizza on the table. He opened them and
took a piece and sat in one of the armchairs. Leah leaned forward and took a
piece.
“You
told him.” Matt said calmly.
“I’m
sick of him. I’m sick of living in fear that he will be around the corner and
is going to beat me up.”
“I
don’t think he will trouble us anymore Jeff.” Leah said leaning up against
him.
“And
how do you know that?” He asked as he placed an arm around her.
“Well,
the hospital know what happened and if we tell the cops and they back us up he
ain’t got a foot to stand on. So if he has on ounce of brain power he will
leave us all alone.”
“I
guess you’re right.” He said smiling and placing a kiss on Leah’s temple.
After
they had eaten Leah and Jeff had gone up stairs to bed and Matt and Colleen were
still downstairs. Colleen laid on the sofa with her head on Matt’s lap as he
stroked her hair softly.
“I
can’t believe Jeff is going to be a dad.” Matt said softly as he locked is
eyes with Colleen’s.
“I
know. It must be an amazing feeling.” Colleen said as she rolled her head so
she was looking away from Matt.
“What’s
wrong?”
“Nothing.”
She said as she blinked away the tears that threatened her eyes. “I’m just
happy for them. My little sister is pregnant.”
“Little
sister?”
“Yeh,
I’m about eight minutes older than her.”
“So
you are going to let her know about that huh?”
“Yep.
She is my little sister and I’m going to look after her.”
“I’m
sure you will.”
“Yep.”
She said looking back at him. “Col, do you think that I could ask you
something?”
“Sure,
ask away.” She said smiling.
“Well,
I was thinking earlier and….” He trailed off.
“And
what Matt?”
“And
I want to know if you would mind if I tried to get my old job back?”
“Wrestling
with the WWF?”
“Yeh.”
“You
would be away all the time wouldn’t you?”
“If
I get back in with the WWF then yes.”
Colleen
looked straight up at the ceiling. “I guess that would be ok. So long as you
come home to me.”
“Of
course I will. I love you baby. I will never leave you.”
“I
love you too.” She said as Matt kissed her. “Will Jeff go back too?”
“I
don’t know, with the baby and all.”
“I
guess Leah wouldn’t want him to go.”
“She
might not but I don’t think she would stop him.”
“Yeh,
and she has you to help look after the baby if Jeff comes with me.”
“I guess she does.” Colleen said as she got up and headed up the stairs. “I guess she does.” She muttered as she ran a hand over her stomach.
