Chapter 31

As soon as Colleen and Matt left the house there was a long period of silence in the car. They just drove along not saying a word to each other and all Colleen did was sit there and think.

"I know that we aren't married, like Jeff and Leah are going to be." Colleen said Looking over at Matt as she thought. "I also know that we haven't been intimate for a while but, I wonder..........." Colleen said to herself as she continued to look at Matt. Colleen decided that she would put her thoughts on the back burner for now as she knew what Jeff and Leah where going through and she knew she would have to help them and she didn't need her own possible pregnancy to get it the way.

Matt himself started to think, but about something entirely different. He sat there thinking about how happy him and Colleen were and how he never wanted that to end. That is how much he loved her.

Finally Colleen spoke up.  "So Matt, where are we going?" Colleen asked with a little twinkle in her eye.

"We are going to go and get something to eat, because I don't know about you but I am starving." Matt replied smiling at Colleen.

"Sounds good to me. Can we go to Applebee's?" Colleen asked smiling back waiting for his answer.

"Sounds great, I would love to have some steak or something." Matt replied rubbing his stomach with his hand.

At the restaurant.......................................................

When they got there a waiter took them to a table and gave them menus. After looking at them for a while, both of them decided what they wanted. Matt ordered a 9oz steak, a bake potato and some carrots. Colleen ordered a shrimp plate, some fries and a salad on the side.

Both of them just sat there for a few consuming what they had ordered. Then Colleen spoke up.

"How do you think Leah is handling this?"

Matt thought for a second before replying. "She seemed ok after the outburst. But God knows what's going on in her mind."

"When i spoke to her, she told me she thought that Jeff wouldn't want her anymore. He wouldn't leave her would he Matt?"

"No he wouldn't. he told me a hopefully he told Leah."

"He did i think. She seemed happier on the sofa earlier. but she still didn't want to let go of Jeff."

"Can you honestly blame her?"

"No." Colleen replied as she fell silent when her meal was placed in front of her. She thanked the waiter and picked up her fork. "Do you think that she will be ok? Not just her but the baby as well."

"I think she will. On the surface she seems a sensitive person, maybe even just moody, but underneath i think that she's strong. I think now as she has Jeff, you, me to help her and be there for her she should be ok. And she has the baby to think about. I can't see her ignoring that."

With Matt's last comment Colleen put her knife down and lay her hand across her stomach. She moved her hand across it carefully before eating the rest of her meal.
