Chapter 24
Gil has shown Matt and
Colleen to one of the guestrooms and then Leah and Jeff to another.
Leah decided now wasn't
the time to tell Jeff. He had to much on his mind. He needed to rest and Leah
knew that so they took a long hot bubble bath together before going to bed.
In Matt's and Colleen's
room Matt was sitting in a chair and Colleen was pacing the room.
"Ok. I need to know
what the deal with Jeff is."
"What do you
mean?" Matt asked her.
"I mean why is he
acting strange?"
"He isn't. Is
he?"
"Yes he is and you
know it as much as i do."
"Col, i know he is
but i don't know if i can tell you."
"Why not? Please
Matt."
Matt paused. He knew she
had to know but he knew if Jeff found out he would hate him for it. But this
was Colleen, his girlfriend and Jeff's fiancée's sister. Matt sighed as he
got to his feet and pulled Colleen down onto the edge of the bed.
"You may not like
this and you have to promise me that you won't tell a single sole."
"I
promise." Colleen said as she began to feel a not of tension forming in
the pit of her stomach.
"Well, before Jeff
left America we were offered contracts with the WWF. We were over the moon.
But his girlfriend at the time, Kate, wasn't happy about it. She loved to
control him, and he let her. He didn't turn the contract down. We signed and
went on the road for a year. It was great but Jeff and Kate's relationship was
falling apart and Kate didn't want to lose Jeff, not because she loved him but
because he was now a WWF superstar. One day Jeff told he had had enough, he
told her they were over. Kate went mad, she threw things at him and screamed
at him. but she wasn't happy with that. She went to her brothers, and trust me
they are big guys. They paid Jeff a visit one night. One of them had a knife
and the other a gun. They told him he would pay the price for hurting their
baby sister. They stabbed him in 12 places and shot him in the shoulder. He
would have died if i hadn't of found him. We got him to the hospital and he
was operated on and had blood transfusions and stuff. He was in there for five
months. When he came out he wasn't the same person. He was a shell. He
wouldn't go out because he was scared. One day i went to his house and found
all of his clothes gone. I never found out why, neither did dad. He just
vanished. We searched for months but with no luck.But now i know he was in
England."
"Oh Matt that's
horrible." Colleen said as a couple of tears fell down her cheeks.
"I know. He still
isn't the same."
"How was he
different?"
"His attitude was
different it used to be like 'live for the moment' but now he seems reserved
and wiser. Not like the Jeff i knew. I actually prefer him like this."
"He has to get over
his fear of being here doesn't he?"
"Yeh he does."
"do you think when he
does he will go back to the old Jeff you used to know?"
