chapter 2

As Leah sat at her computer in the flat she and her boyfriend Jeff rented she sipped her coke before setting it back down on the matt that Jeff placed on the computer table. “Thanks hun.” She said as he pulled up a chair and sat beside her.

“What you doing?” he asked as he leaned over and looked at the screen.

“I’m talking to someone in a chatroom, why?”

“Just wondering. Who you talking to? No blokes I hope.” He said with a cheeky grin as he nudged her in the ribs.

“No. Her names Colleen and she lives in the USA and she’s really nice.”

Leah says: My boyfriend has just got back from work.

Colleen says: Say hi to him for me!!!

Leah says: I will, he says hi!!

Colleen says: what does he do?

Leah says: he’s a coach

Colleen says: cool. What does he coach?

Leah says: Judo, kick boxing, wrestling and stuff like that.

Colleen says: My boyfriend trains wrestlers.

Leah says: WOW!!! What a coincidence!!!

Colleen says: I know.

Leah says: what’s your boyfriends name?

Colleen says: Matt.

Leah says: K, how old is he if you don’t mind me asking?

Colleen says: he’s 26

Leah says: You like older men???!!!! J

Colleen says: yeh I do, how olds Jeff?

Leah says: he’s 23 but he will be 24 in six days!!!

Colleen says: Well Happy birthday for then Jeff!! J Make sure Leah gives you all you want!!! lol

Leah says: I’ll give him all he deserves!!! lol

Colleen says: I bet you will.

Leah says: hehehe

Colleen says: so, I’m not the only one who likes older men then??!!!

Leah says: no, he is 3 nearly for years older then me

Colleen says: but I guess age is just a number

Leah says: yeh it is, how old is you if you don’t mind telling me

Colleen says: I’m 23. It’s been great talking to you but I’ve got to go because Matt has just come home and he’s taking me out to dinner tonight!!!

Leah says: Ok, well have fun and I’ll probably be on here sometime tomorrow so I’ll speak to you then.

Colleen says: Ok, speak to you soon.

Leah says:  XXXX

Colleen says: XXX bye

Leah says: bye

Leah left the chat room and she took her drink over to the sofa where Jeff now sat. She sat at the opposite end of the sofa and she watched him watching the TV screen. He looked at her out of the corner of his eye before looking over at her. “You ok?” he asked with concern in his voice.

“Yeh, I’ll be fine.” She replied as she looked away from him and down at the beige carpet.

“You’re not fine. What’s wrong baby?”

“Nothing.”

“Don’t lie baby. Come on tell me.”

“It’s nothing, really.” She said as she continued to stare at the carpet. Jeff dropped of the sofa onto his knees as went over to Leah. He lifted her chin only to see tears falling from her warm brown eyes.

“Baby. Why are you crying? What’s wrong? Has something happened?” Jeff asked her in one go. She only managed a sob in return. Jeff tried to wrap his arms around her to comfort her but she pushed him away and got to her feet. Jeff stood up and watched as she left the living room and headed into their bedroom. She didn’t close the door and he watched curl up on the bed into a tight ball. He walked quickly to the room and sat on the edge of the bed next to his girlfriend, the girl he loved with all his heart. “Leah, what’s wrong?”

She uncurled out of her ball after he spent a few minuets stroking her wavy brown hair. He had asked her that question several times but never got an answer, until now. “Us Jeff. Us is what’s wrong.” She said as she wiped the tears from her eyes.

“What’s wrong with us baby?” he asked, concern in his voice.

“You Jeff, I hardly ever see you now. You’re always out coaching kids and then going out with your mates and stuff. I sit at home all night and wait for you. Then when you get home you just sit in front of that stupid TV and we don’t even talk, we sit in silence until I come to bed alone and you crawl in at god knows what time in the morning.” She sobbed before she fell back down onto the bed. Jeff sat there stunned.

“I had no idea you felt this way. Why didn’t you say something sooner baby?”

“Because you are never around for me to talk to you. When I wake up in the mornings, you’re never there. All I get is a stupid note that says you’ve gone for a jog, you’ve got an early class, you went to met a mate at the station!!”

“Baby if you want us to spend more time together then we can. I can give up some of my early morning jogs, and I’ll tell my mates to catch a cab. Anything to make you happy, I hate it when you cry.”

“Jeff, you don’t have to give anything up, just when you get home, talk to me.”

“I promise baby.”

“Jeff?”

“Yeh?” he asked softly as he took her hand and brought it to his lips and kissed each finger.

“You must think I’m really stupid.”

“No. I understand what you’re saying. I’ve been an ass and haven’t considered your feelings.”

“Hold me Jeff.” Leah asked him as she looked into his love filled eyes. Neither of them said another word. Jeff kicked of his shoes and Leah moved over on the bed. Jeff lay down beside her and pulled Leah’s body into his arms. She buried her head into Jeff’s neck as he slowly ran his hand up and down her back and kissed the top of her hair softly.
