Chapter 4
After
another four and a half months of Chloe’s pregnancy it was time for Matt to
leave America and go to England to be with the mother of his baby.
“You
take care son.” Gil said as he hugged his son at the airport.
“I
will and I’ll call when I get there.”
“See
ya Matt.” Jeff said as he embraced his brother and handed him his hand
luggage.
”Yeh, see you in a few months I guess.” He said as he turned away from them
and began to walk towards the gate.
“Hey
Matt.” Jeff said stopping his brother in his tracks. “Good luck.” He said
as he walked to his brother and hugged him once last time.
“Do
you need anything?” Matt asked Chloe the morning after he arrived.
“No,
I’m fine thanks.” She said as she held out her hand to him. He took it and
sat beside her as she lay on the couch. “Feel. It’s kicking.” She said
softly as she placed Matt’s hand on her stomach.
After
keeping his hand on her stomach for a couple of minutes, tears filled his eyes.
Chloe sat up and looked at him. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,
it just really hit me. That’s my baby, I’m going to be a dad.”
“Yes
hun, you are. Has it only just come to you?”
”I always knew I was going to have a baby but I hadn’t thought about it as
being a dad.”
“Well,
I have had eight and a half months to get used to the fact I’m going to be a
mum. But I’ll never be prepared enough for it.”
“But
at least you have me now.”
“I
know I do.” She said as she hugged Matt before he laid her back on the couch
and stroked her forehead until she fell asleep.
