The Beggars of M'Earth AKA "The Mud Show" are always a big hit at Scarborough. Forget "Theater in the Round" -- this is "Theater in the Mud"! I mean, these fellows really get down and dirty!! In fact, it's a good idea to avoid the first three rows when viewing one of their performances!!! Here, the Beggars do their version of "Beowulf" for an attentive -- and soon-to-be-surprised -- audience.
Smee and Blog, the "Singing Executioners" of Arizona RenFest fame, put in a guest appearance for two weekends only at Scarborough this year. Talk about humor with a cutting edge: these fellows are hilarious! Their "Dungeon Rap", for example, had the audience in stitches!!! Here, they seek their next victim for the "audience participation" part of their show. Shave and a haircut, anyone???
Comedy swordfighting is the specialty of Don Juan and Miguel. With their flashing blades and continuous line of jokes and gags, they kept their audiences roaring with laughter throughout their performances. Be sure to catch their last show on Sunday evenings: they're especially outrageous, then!
The Scarborough Gypsies, here represented by the Gypsy King (onstage, right) and his court, provided a wide variety of different entertainments throughout the day. In this view, they enact a long folk fable of the Rom for an appreciative audience at the Hightower Square Gazebo near the main gate.
