Hello again, ren fans! This is the second part of my Scarborough report. Well, we've had three weekends of moderate weather that has been bliss. Unfortunately, such things come with a price. At the end of the third weekend, there were severe rainstorms that hindered a good portion of the faire. The site was saturated with so much rain that only the performers from The Mud Show seemed content! In spite of wet conditions, the faire went on, albeit it closed three hours early. There was still a parade and courtly gatherings, however! And some performances went on, such as Bard O'Neil at the King's Pub (photo, above). There she was accompanied by The Corsairs and Queen Anne's Lace to help the crowds through that miserable day.
And speaking of good things coming to an end, it was announced that this season would be the final year The Flaming Idiots would be performing on the ren circuit! They are moving on to do an off-broadway show, in the vein of the "Flying Karmazov Brothers." It is a well-deserved step up for them, but anyone who has a chance to see their stage show should go, now! After all, how many people do you know who can juggle five giant bean bags (photo, above)?
Fortunately, there are other wonderful entertainments still on site. A perfect example is Isis and the Star Dancers (photo, left). These lovely ladies perform bellydancing with outstanding skill, art and exuberance!
Also there was the return of the husband-wife duo known as Whipflash, who performed a variety of tricks with bullwhips. You can see, this couple must have a lot of trust in each other (photos right and below)!!!
