History

Our tale begins with the forging of the Great Rings. Powerful rings that had within them the power to rule each race. Three were given to the Elves, for they were wise, fair, and immortal.  Seven to the dwarves, who marveled at their creation, for they love gold and gems. Nine were given to the men, for they desire power more than all. But something had happened that they did not expect, for there is one more ring that was created. In the Land of the Shadow, deep in the fiery pits Mount Doom Sauron the Deceiver created a ring to control all other rings, a master ring. In it he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.  He bound himself to the ring and they became one.  One by one all the lands fell into the grasp of Sauron, and Middle-Earth was nearly destroyed. But all hope was not lost, for there was some who resisted this evil. They allied themselves to destroy Sauron. The Last Alliance, as it was called, of Men and Elves marched to Mordor, and fought for the freedom of all life.  Victory was near, but finally Sauron marched out and began to fight.  The King of Men was struck down, and killed.  His son, Isildur, ran to his father, but he was already dead. Isildur picked up his father's sword, but Sauron stepped on it and nearly destroyed it. The hilt of the sword and half the blade was left. When Sauron was making the final blow on Isildur, Isildur attacked Sauron's hand and cut the Ring from Sauron's hand. and Sauron, enemy of all the free people was destroyed. The Ring came to Isidur, and Elrond, the Elven leader, took Isildur to the heart of the mountain, to the one place the Ring could be destroyed, and told him to destroy it. But the hearts of men are easily corrupted. Isildur kept the ring for himself. Later Isildur was attacked by a band of wandering orcs, and he was slain. The Ring fell into the Great River Anduin, and there it was lost, and was forgotten about, for nearly, 1500 years. It was found by two strange creatures, Sméagol and Déagol was there name. They were best friends. One day they were near the river when Déagol noticed a glint of gold in the water. He picked it up and found a ring, not very fancy, but was pure gold and was so smooth and perfect, nice and round with out a scratch. Sméagol who was watching from afar came to Déagol and said, "Give me the ring." When Déagol asked why, Sméagol said because it was his birthday. But Déagol refused saying that he already gave Sméagol an expensive present and Déagol wanted the ring. Sméagol got angry and strangled Déagol to his death, and Sméagol took the ring. This shows that the ring corrupts all, making Sméagol kill his best friend. He put the ring on and went home, and to his surprise he noticed that no one could see him. His family noticed that he was acting peculiar, and to save him his Grandmother, the leader of the house,  sent him into exile. So Sméagol left, and traveled. He came across the Misty Mountain, and stayed there. And there the ring consumed him. For 600 years it poisoned his mind. The Ring decided to abandon his owner, so it left him. But something happened by accident that the Ring did not think about. It was picked up by a very strange creature. Bilbo Baggins from the Shire, a hobbit. Bilbo then met Gollum, Sméagol's name after the ring corrupts him, and is challenge to a game of riddles. If Gollum wins then He will eat Bilbo. If he loses then he must show the way out of the mountain. Eventually Bilbo wins, and escapes Gollum and the Misty Mountains. That is the story of how the ring comes to the Shire.

Fellowship of the RIng

**The green parts are extra things that occur in the book.**

60 years later, Bilbo celebrates his 111 birthday. Also, his heir, Frodo's birthday is on the same day. Bilbo throws a spectacular party, but has a mysterious surprise at the end. During his speech he says he is leaving, and disappears. Everyone is surprised, except for Gandalf and Frodo. Gandalf immediately returns to Bilbo's home to see him off. He knows that Bilbo is going to live with the Elves. Bilbo leaves all his possessions to Frodo including the Ring (after some argument.) Gandalf tells Frodo not to use the ring and then leaves too. Gandalf goes to research something and discovers that the ring Frodo has is the One Ring of Sauron. Gandalf returns to tell Frodo this, and tells him to leave the Shire, and go to Rivendell. Frodo takes Sam, Merry, and Pippin with him. Soon they notice that they are being followed by Black Riders. They go into the Old Forest to avoid them. They get lost and and are rescued by a peculiar person, short like a hobbit, yet not that short. His name is Tom Bombadil. He takes them to his house and gives them advice, and soon helps them on their way. At their stop at Bree they meet a Ranger named Strider. He goes with them to Rivendell. On the way there, they make a stop at a old watchtower during the night. While they're there, the Black Riders, or Ringwraiths, attack them and stab Frodo near the shoulder. Strider fights them off, but just too late to help Frodo. He was wounded slightly but the blade of the sword contained poison, and part of the tip was still in Frodo. Strider and the hobbits, race to get to Rivendell trying to help Frodo, who is still barely alive. If they do not make it then Frodo will become a wraith too.

At this point there are two different stories that occur. One is following the movie, and one following the book.

Soon at night Arwen an Elf comes to the group and takes Frodo with her to Rivendell. She is then ambushed by the wraiths, and rides as fast as she can to a river and crosses it. The wraith follow her and are drowned by a sudden flood of the river caused by Elrond her father.

Soon at night Glorifindel an Elf-Lord finds them. He puts Frodo on his horse and they make they're way to Rivendell. They all are ambushed by wraiths so Glorifindel tells his horse to go. The horse speeds away with Frodo and is followed by the wraiths. It crosses the river. As soon as the Wraiths step in the water the river floods and some of them drown. The rest are attacked by Strider and Glorifindel from the back and force them into the river drowning the rest of the wraiths.

Finally they reach Rivendell. There Elrond invites members of all the Races to a council. The council decides that a small group of people, the fellowsip of the ring, will accompany Frodo to destroy the Ring. With him goes Aragorn, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Sam, Legolas, Gimili, and Boromir. Frodo meets Bilbo at Rivendell again. Bilbo gives him two presents, his old sword Sting, and Mithril (a mail or coat made out of metal and diamonds, as hard as dragon scales, and light as a feather.) The Fellowship leaves and start to go south. But Saruman, a betrayed wizard that decided to join with Sauron, sent Crebain, bird spies, to find their location. Gandalf shifts the course of the Fellowship to the Mountain of Caradahas. Saruman then attacks them trying to bring down the mountain. So Gimli convinces the group to Moria. There Gimli discovers that his cousin Balin is dead. They are attacked by a cave troll. They kill him and escape. There they meet a Balrog, a demon of the ancient world. Gandalf stands on the bridge and does not let the Balrog pass. Gandalf destroys the bridge and knocks down the Balrog. However, the Balrog pulls Gandalf down and they both fall down into the shadow. Aragorn then leads the group to Lotholrien. They meet the ring-bearer of one of the Elven rings. Her name is Galadriel. She shows Frodo a mirror that tells, either the past, future, present, things that will happen if something does not happen. Frodo sees his friends being captured and the Shire being attacked. They soon leave Lotholorien and travel down the river Anduin by boat. They reach the Falls of Rauros, and stop for a rest. Frodo goes alone for a walk and is attacked by Boromir. Boromir says that the ring should be his and tries to steal it. Frodo puts the ring on and runs away. That is how the book ends. In the movie they are attacked by Uruk-hai's, orcs crossed with goblins by Saruman creating super orcs that fear no pain and can travel by daylight. Aragorn was talking to Frodo and learns about Boromir, and lets Frodo go. There is a huge battle and Boromir dies. Aragorn kills the leader, but Merry and Pippin are captured. Frodo and Sam leave to go to Mordor alone. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimili go after Merry and Pippin, and so ends the Fellowship of the Ring, both the Book and the actual Fellowship of the Ring, for they broke up and went to different places.
