  • Students will observe the properties of water in its liquid and solid states.

  • Students will observe the expansion and contraction of water as it gains and losses heat.

  • Students will observe and explore the properties of water’s surface tension.

  • Students will observe evaporation and condensation.

  • Students will investigate effects of surface area and air temperature on condensation.

  • Students will use an indicator to test water for the presence of chemicals.

  • Students will compare the properties of local water samples.

  • Students will read, write, and listen to theme stories and books related to water.

  • Students will research a water animal and write up a report to inform and explain to others the life of their animal.

  • Read together and discuss stories and articles related to the water theme, both fictional and nonfiction.
