Working Together!

Together we share one common goal-to help your son or daughter be successful in school.

Ways to help your child succeed at school.

A strong self-esteem plays a key role in how well your child does at school.

  • Every day say, "Good job!" and, "I knew you could do it."
  • Ask, "What do you think?"-and really listen to your son or daughter.
Find a place and time for studying at home.
  • All you really need is a work table in a relatively quiet place, good light, and a comfortable chair.
  • Keep study materials close by like pencils, erasers, paper, ruler, and a dictionary.
  • Plan specific times for studying.

Show an interest in your child's schoolwork.
  • Every day say, "Tell me about it." Encourage your child to explain his/her assignment.
  • Let them know,"I'm here if you need me."
  • Be available during study times, but don't do it for them.

Only a fraction of what your child learns comes from the classroom.
  • Help your child search out answers, practice new skills, review, problem solve and discover.
  • Together, hit the books at a library or search the Internet.
