Here you can
find about a bit about me, what I like, and what I do.

Hunting
- I'm an avid hunter. I hunt
as often as I can. My whole year basically revolves
around the gun deer season in Wisconsin. I don't just
hunt for the sake of shooting something. I love being
outdoors and being as close to nature as I can. I live in
northern California now, and here can be found some of
the best waterfowl hunting in the nation. I can't wait to
try it. If you're reading this and you disagree with me
in believing that hunting is moral or whatever other
ideas you may have, I'd be glad to hear your thoughts.
But at the same time, please realize, I've been hunting
since I was old enough to follow my father into the
woods. I'm a strong supporter of the sport, and if you
just want to tell me that it's wrong, without intending
to debate the issue, don't write to me.
Fishing
- Fishing is basically the
same as hunting. As long as I can be outside and enjoying
Mother Nature, I'm happy. Many people tend to get bored
if they sit all day and don't catch a fish. I just
consider catching a fish an added bonus. I've also been
fishing for as long as I can remember. I love going up to
the mountian lakes here and enjoying the deep blue water
and just spending time watching the ongoings around me.
There's so much to see while you sit wetting you're line.
I think that's why many people don't like the sport,
they're too busy watching the end of their pole, and not
everything else around them.
Hiking
- Somedays I enjoy just
taking my pack and my binoculars and going to some place
I've never been to. There so many beautiful place to go,
no matter where you live. I was raised in Wisconsin, and
you needed to look no farther than the outskirts of any
town and you would have someplace to go enjoy the
outdoors. Here, in California, we have the mountians. I
love going up there and just hiking and watching the
plants and animals. It's relaxing to get away, if even
for just an afternoon, from the hustle of work and the
daily routine. To just get out, open you're eyes, and
just watch what goes on everyday while we sit going
through our lives day by day. It's quite fascinating.
Wisconsin
- Ahhh.. the greatest, most
beautiful state in the nation. :) I love this place, my
home. I've been to many places across this nation, and to
different countries. And, I still can't wait to get back.
I'm not trying to convince you to pack up and move there.
I like the fact that there are not millions and millions
of people there. There are more people in the city of Los
Angeles than in the entire state of Wisconsin. That just amazes me, but I love
it. If you love the outdoors, Wisconsin is it. There are
a few major cities, such as Green Bay and Milwaukee. But,
the most of the state is farmland an forests. We actually
have only one national park, which is hard for me to
believe, but there are hundreds of public places for
hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, snowmobiling...
anything you could possibly want to do outside. I also
love to go mushroom hunting. The sand counties of central
Wisconsin are prime habitat for thousands of mushrooms.
Some are quite tasty. (my favorite is the morel). Check
out this page of a few samples. Shroomin'

California
- California, at least
northern California is a nice place to be. I've been
stationed here for about eleven months now. I live near
the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. John Muir
was not misleading when he described these mountains.
They are absolutely breathtaking. I'm up there hiking
almost every weekend. I've only visited southern
California once, so I can't speak much about that, other
than that the beaches and women are beautiful there.
Skiing
I had to
add this section. I love to ski! Before I got here, I
hadn't skiied in a few years. Now I ski as often as I
can. It can be expensive, but well worth it! Just the
view from the summits of the mountains is unreal. I have
a few pictures in my Sierra Nevada section, but they don't do it
justice. There are few feelings in the world like
overlooking what is truely "God's Country." I
definately feel closer to God atop those mountains. Go here to get the links to some of the
places I have been or am looking forward to going.

Hockey
- This sport played
a major role in my life. I didn't start playing until I
was in fifth or sixth grade I think. That's considered
late. Most kids are on skates when they're five or six.
Anyway, I played it every year since. I played all the
way through high school. I had a great time, and am glad
I was able to stick with it. It would have never happened
had my father not been as dedicated as he was. He
complained a lot less than I did when we had 5am
practices, or had to drive 6 hours one way to attend a
tournament in Minnesota or Michigan. I miss the ice, but
try to make it up on the roller hockey court. It's not
even close, but I guess letting go of things like that is
a part of growing up.
Yosemite National
Park
- I visited Yosemite a few months back. I don't think
I could easily put it into words the beauty and wonder
there. I was only there for four days, and could never
spend enough time there. I hiked to the top of Glacier
Point and to the summit of Half Dome, as well as several
shorter hikes. It still makes me feel small and
insignificant. When you're standing on a mountian 9000
feet above the valley floor, it puts your life into
prospective. I plan on going back as soon as there is
clear enough weather. I highly recommend going there, but
please, spend at the very least a week there. And always,
always follow the rules and regulations in the park.
Books
- This is a section that I
thought I'd put in here about some of my favorite books
and authors. By far my favorite book is A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold. Aldo Leopold
was a Yale educated conservationist who lived in
Wisconsin in the 1930's and 40's. His ideas about what
was happening to the environment and what we need to do
to conserve it laid a foundation for the way we deal with
the dangers to nature. He was an avid hunter who taught
forestry at the University of Wisconsin. I highly
recommend everyone, whether you love nature or not to
read this book. You'll learn a lot and it may open your
eyes. I also like to read John Steinbeck. I've often thought that I was
born in the wrong century. And even if I was born in the
correct century, it's the wrong part. Many of Steinbeck's
works were mostly based on the time period just before,
during and after The Great Depression. Many of his
stories are based in the fields and orchards of the
Salinas Valley just south of where I live now. You've
probably heard ot the Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men. They are both great books, but
please don't stop there. He has many great short stories.
One more author I have to put on here is John Muir. He was one of this nation's
greatest preservationists. He and Theodore Roosevelt were
key in imposing the idea of preserving our nation
resourses in national parks. He had many great ideas that
are still looked to today as we try to correct the
problems facing our environment.

Military
- Well, at the present time,
this is my occupation. I'm enlisted in the United States
Air Force. I'm stationed at Beale
AFB in
northen California. It's a good job, and it feels to good
to serve the country that I love. And saying that, I plan
to just make it a four year tour. I can also say that
although I enjoy serving this country, when it comes down
to it, I did it for the education. I want to become a
wildlife biologist, and the military is going to help me
accomplish that goal. This is a good job, I'm learning a
lot, and I'm proud to be here, but only for the next
three years. :)

Liquid Fuels Maintenance
Journeyman
That's the big long name of what I do...
glorified machanic. :)
What I actually do
Basically, what I do is fix fueling systems
used for filling aircraft and automoblies. I make sure that the
systems that deliver the fuel to jets are working properly. I
also maintain service stations. When you go to the gas station
and fill up, that gas doesn't magically appear. :) It comes from
underground tanks through a series of pipes and pumps and
filters. I make sure that all that stuff is in good working
order. It's a lot like a plumber, only we don't deal with waste
and water, we work with fuel. Fascinating, eh? :)
