General Info
Name: Jadeite
DiC spelling: Jedite
Hair color: blonde/gold
Eye color: dark blue in the anime; more likely to be greyish-blue in the manga.
Who loved/had crushes on him: Usagi, Tetis, possibly Usagi's classmates (episode 4); also in the manga Rei
was drawn
together with him and in some doujinshi he is an object of Nephrite's hentai desires. More info in the
Love section.
Whom he loved: nobody in the anime, somewhat liked Rei in the manga (mainly for her looks) and maybe
he does like Nephrite in the doujinshi after all ^_^.
Whom he killed: either nobody or it was never shown.
Who killed him: Queen Beryl - put into eternal sleep (that can't be called "killing" though). Hino Rei/Sailormars
- burned him with one of her attacks in the manga.
Anime episodes: 1-13
Manga acts: 1-3
Seiyuu: Onosaka Masaya (learn more in the
Seiyuu section)
DiC voice actor: Tony Daniels. Also played Wiseman's part in the dub.
Personality: Unfortunately for Jadeite, he happened to be the very first villain (not counting Queen Beryl and the
youma Morga) introduced in the series; that is, he made his entrance right when the animators were developing the
main characters such as Usagi. As a result, he didn't get much attention in the anime and was practically personality-
less (as the majority of villains) in the manga. However, I still managed to feel what Jadeite is like... maybe because
I'm a FAN.
Jadeite is a very dedicated and hardworking soldier: he never lets himself simply enjoy life (unlike Zoisite & Kunzite ^^)
but only does what is needed for awakening Metallia, that is draining the energy from humans. He seems to be more
interested in his work than any other of his fellow generals. Even when a beautiful youma Tetis tries to start a
relationship with Jadeite, he stays cold and remains focused on his job.
Jadeite is probably fairly young (I think he and Zoisite are the youngest ones of the team) and lacks
maturity a bit, but he's very intelligent in the same time. He knows the feelings and desires of Earth humans perfectly
(especially those of young girls) and uses them well to create his energy-hunting schemes. The only real reason of his
constant failures is the almighty Law of the Genre which can't allow him be successful (otherwise he'd just smack Usagi
across the wall in the episode 3 and that would be the end of the series). Some people consider Jadeite the most
evil of all the four generals because he doesn't love anyone; this is still a big question, since Jadeite tries his best
to look evil, but ends up looking really cute ^^. When he growls at yet another youma's death and swears to kill the
Sailor Senshi, he is somewhat like a young boy; I'd say Kunzite looks far more cruel when he's mad at anyone or
anything.
Jadeite is very creative, you can say it's symbolized by the fact that most of his powers are those of disguising and
making illusions (more in the Powers section). He's
always different, he comes up with various methods and costumes for himself. He can do lots of jobs, from radio DJ
to a cruise ship captain. He's talented and able to turn his "villain work" into a special kind of art.
Considering that Jadeite is a villain after all, he's meant to have certain flaws... like the fact that he's arrogant and cold
to most people. He feels superior when he communicates with lowly ranked youma and the Sailor Senshi whom he
despises. Also, he's a bit of a chauvinist, which expresses in episode 13. But nevertheless, he still is a really charming,
cute character with strong intellect that deserves being admired.
