My Monique's Poem

Reformation

Monique Danielle Teves

January 23, 2001

~~~
You should know what I have felt,
You should see what I have dealt,
I am not solely what you see,
I am not sure you would believe…
~
The colors are melting
And I’m left with brown
All snuggled and muffled
In a suffocating town
~
You should know I’ve been there too
To hell and back all black and blue
~
I hide behind skin
Of colors and smiles
But brown is left
From a million miles
~
I am conceited and cynical
I am fake but whimsical
I want power, I need help
I am superficial, I am full of myself
~
I care, but I don’t
I try but I won’t
I’m ecstatic, then depressed
I hide ‘cause I’m a mess
~
I’m attention crazed and I want to stop
One more lie and my facade may drop
~
I need to change,
But not colors alone
Into the brown,
Pink and white be sewn.
