- Solomon Islands urges UN recognition of Taiwan

Taiwan still not member of the UN
Solomon Islands says Taiwan's exclusion from United Nations activities represents a violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Despite the strong support of countries such as Solomon Islands, Taiwan has again failed to gain United Nations membership.

China and its supporters, for the 10th consecutive year, stopped Taiwan's bid from getting on to the agenda of the U-N General Assembly.

The assembly's General Committee, which sets the agenda, decided against raising the question during the current session.
