-Greenland

Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, governed by a Home Rule administration. The last years there has been a growing independence movement and the island are gradually gaining more rights.

Greenland which is located on the worlds largest island has various formal connections with other parts of the world. Among others Greenland is an independent member of the Nordic Council.

When Denmark joined the European Union, Greenland also became a member as a Danish territory. In spite of that, Greenland withdrew from the European Union in 1985, thereafter basing its relations with the EU on a special agreement.
