LEONS Ultra Lace Alevin
Originated and Tied By Leon Guthrie

LEONS Ultra Lace Alevin
Name LEONS Ultra Lace Alevin
Category Salmon / Steelhead / Rainbow Trout
HookKamasan B800 Classic Lure Extra Long. Size 10
BodyUni-Thread 6/0 White, Fit (Veniard) Damsel Dumb-Bell Eyes to underside of hook shank behind hook eye. Now make a small pouch from ladies White Panty-hose this is easily done by pinching the material in your vice and tying thread around to make the pouch. Cut this leaving a little for you to use to tie it on behind the dumb-bell eyes while manipulating the tie-in so the pouch is central underneath the hook shank. Apply a little super glue to the tying thread and between the dumb-bell eyes. Now take a length of ( Veniard ULTRA LACE ) Which is a clear hollow tube and tie on just behind dumb-bell eyes and using the white thread to completely cover the Ultra Lace on top of the hook shank and leaving the length for the tail. Now tie on another piece of Ultra Lace and Wind (FLAT) Along to the hook bend and back to finally tie of behind dumb-bell eyes. Apply Super Glue. Once that is in place use cocktail stick to apply clear epoxy resin glue and build a round head on top and bottom of dumb-bell eyes. Now I use a colour Permanent Orange pen that is used for Overhead Projector Film to Slightly colour the panty-hose material. But keeping some White to show the natural look of the Alevin Yoke Sac.
CommentsGood realistic pattern of the Alevin and Yoke Sac Pouch looks realistic under water.
Fishing Tips Allow to drift on bottom. Alevin do not swim much at all, so retrieve is little required if any, but very slowly.

Note: Leon has recently come up with a newer improved variation of this fly. See Leons Ultra Lace Alevin Improved Version.

This pattern was originated and tied by Leon Guthrie of Galashiels, Scotland. You can see more of his originals at The Flies of Leon Guthrie.
