Oh, what the hell.. It just irks me when my page doesn't
look right on other computers. I think everyone should look at my
page when they have the same settings as me. Ha, I said it.
Anyways, I have a lot to talk about. The Friday after my last
update was quite the busy day and this past week had some
things happen as well.
So I last left off Friday afternoon. I ended up falling asleep
again until my soaps came on. Of course they were very good and
I was happy again to see them.
But!
WHY, oh, WHY did they switch actresses on the character of Kay?
That's terrible! Sure, I didn't mind when they did the switcheroo
on Kay's sister, since she only maybe had 5mins on the entire
lifetime of this show. But Kay, THIS actress was a good Kay! So
that annoys me greatly. Their website says the new girl is
temporarily replacing the old one. Well, I hope it's a short while.
I have been going into the forums for
Passions
and Days though. I
tell you, it's hilarious how these people are.
So okay, Lar came home and we called Michelle to see what her plans
were for living situations and it was just bad. I'll leave it at that.
I was upset greatly though.
Well, we called up the old woman we'd been talking to about the
apartment and she told us to come over around 7pm. First, we went to
dinner at a Japanese place. I had my first taste of sushi. Though
it wasn't the cold, raw stuff is typical. It was cooked salmon, so
that made everything warm enough to eat. I also ordered some chicken
katsu, with sauce on the side. It was all good. I took the little
sauce bowl home with me. Hee hee!
Went to the place, it was up by Northgate, but easy to find. We were
somewhat late, having to deal with some residual stuffs before we left.
The buildings were a dull red brick color. Two similar buildings.
We rang the bell and waited for an eternity to get an answer. An
old man, with his bones jutting out in his face and hips, answered the
door. Also hard of hearing as well.
We were invited in and tread carefully into a livingroom with an
old woman sitting underneath some yellow lights. She chatted with
us for a few minutes but I was on-alert. Something didn't feel
right.
Her husband ended up showing us the apartments. He took forever
going up the stairs and unlocking the doors. It was unbearable.
The first place was out of our league since it was just the two of
us. It was nice though. The next place was another floor up and
had bright green shag carpet. And this place was not-so-nice
it was $750.
Well, then when I thought we were going to leave, he takes us to
the basement where the washer/drier are. Instead of just leaving,
we politely asked for an application to take home with us. We
re-enter their apartment and BOOM!
The old woman asks us if we're MARRIED. Larry and I are shocked. I
KNEW something was up. The first thing that comes to my mind is:
this is illegal! They can't do this! But I say that we are friends
and we live together. Yes it's a fib, we're more than that. But
oh well!
They both make this disapproving, grim nod and say that they cannot
rent to unmarried couples. It's against their religion. It's a
family business. They rent to families.
Well well!
The Old One (meaning the old lady) murmurs something about telling
us sooner, so we wouldn't have WASTED OUR FUCKING TIME WITH THEM.
God! Larry had been talking with them for a full week! Geezus!
So our night was pretty much shot to hell. We went to QFC and bought
junk food to make ourselves feel better and rented a few movies
at Hollywood. That was it.
Saturday we spent the day searching for apartments. We walked and
drove in the blistering sun. We went to Lynnwood briefly as a distraction.
Then we went back home where I was cooking dinner. After this stressful
day I really had to get out. I joined Annie and Wilson for "The
Talented Mr.Ripley."
What a weird movie. Oh well, Jude Law..Yummy! Wilson fell asleep while
Annie and I talked and I felt a little better after having such a
shitty weekend thus far. Talking to her made me realize that I should
just fucking stay in this apartment.
Nevermind that we, last year, also said we were leaving but then
took it back. Nevermind that we were really leaving this year, but
now aren't. So we're just staying okay?
I went home and told Lar this and then we decided to just stay. He'd
call the owner up and blame it on me. Since I wrote out the
last month stuff while hanging out with Darryl the morning he was
leaving. So.
Sunday was a better day after having this one stress lifted. But
the weekend was already lost so it was no use trying to salvage it.
I started a new book. I think it's called: The Language of Love.
It started out interestingly enough. The 100 chapters are the 100
words in the Word Association test. Or something. Plus, there's just
something about reading books about young girls growing up. I've
noticed that that has been a pattern in my Summer of Reading.
Anyways, my work week started out badly. The main desk girl was
sick so I was at the front. And like all the previous times, when
I'm in the front it's the busiest. And it's always so damned difficult
to organize taking a break or lunch! Annie was at work so it was
nice to have her there to complain.
The next day the front girl was back, but she was going on vacation
Thursday-Friday. Nice. She had enough time to tell me that I had to
make a 6ft banner which had the School's name, the URL, and their
1-800 number. Wonderful. And I had a load of other inane 'projects'
as well.
Wednesday I spent the whole day working on the banner. I wasn't
intentionally trying to stretch it out. It is six fucking feet long,
okay? I had to get back into my younger years, when I would always
write in block/bubble letters. Anyways, it turned out pretty well.
Thursday was busy as hell. I was very unhappy that day.
As for today, things slowed down. Plus, I finished most of the work
they wanted me to do yesterday, so I was free! I did some work but
then took some time out to check out my links (on the right, duh).
Which brings me to this question: Which Big Brother do you like?
Big Brother or
Big Brother.
I thought this was hilarious so that's why I'm sharing. You'll see....
So I'm going along with Annie as she's hunting for roommates. She has,
more or less, decided to live on her own. Yesterday we went to this
house far away on Sandpoint. It was filled with cute boys! Three of
them. But her room was a literal closet. I saw a doorknob and thought
that, if this was her own bathroom, maybe it would be worth it. But
I opened the door to see 2 of the 3 guys standing on the other side!
Oh whatever!
Since I was there for support, I asked all the tough questions. It was
pretty funny actually. I asked them: 1) Is this the smallest room
in the house? (Yes), 2) How much did you want for it? ($355), 3) Are
there only boys here? (Yes) [We only saw 2 of the 3 roommates at this
time.] So at this point, I said she needed to live with girls, at least
one and thanked them and left. It was funny. I bet they thought we were
lesbian lovers or something. Hee hee!
As for today, Annie got me from work and we had dinner. It wasn't that
great, since it was food I can get at home. We went to the room,
which was SMACK DAB in Frat Row. Nice. Right between two large frat
houses, oookay. It was a 2-story side-by-side duplex. The building itself,
with the features and such, is nice. Had it been in another location,
it would be going for a HUGE sum. But here, it was ghetto...with
a whole livingroom set on the front, brown, lawn. The inside was pretty
messy...The room was nice though. But she's not living there. It was
quite, unhospitable.
Well, tonight Larry is out with Mike. I could have gone with the
boys but they were seeing "Hollowman" and I'm seeing that Sunday
with my sister....the offer of theatre popcorn was very tempting though!
I just curled up with my current book: Naked, which is funny as HELL,
and reheated last night's pad thai. I called Wilson and we talked for a
good, long while since it's been forever since I talked to him. Then I
watched "Making the Band." Good shit.
Nothing else is going on for the weekend, aside from the movie with
my sister on Sunday. Larry is working on some paper tomorrow and so
I will meet up with my sister and we're giving our parents a cellphone
for their early-anniversary gift. I'll buy them a new faceplate when
it's their actual anniversay, so that will be my contribution.
And a few hours ago I realized that Larry has forgotten his keys, so
now I can't go to sleep even though I'm tired! I hope he doesn't
come home at 3am, like they have in the past. That would suck!
Right now, I'm annoyed at these loud people who seem to be having
a party under my window. GOD, what is up with people annoying the
fuck out of me lately?
Oh, btw, I got paid on the 10th. Direct deposit baby! I'll probably
pick up my pay stubs when I leave this job. I just have to remember to
do the math to see if they got it right. Work's gonna be crazy
in the next few weeks since we're preparing a bulk mailing of the
admissions packet for 2001. Fu-un.
One last thing, my sister called up those Old Ones and told them
it was illegal of them to discriminate against nonmarried couples.
She cited an Alaska case which was completed just last Saturday which
ruled it unfair and unconstitutional. The Old One countered it with
a California case which said it was okay, however, she could not
give exact dates and it is obvious this Alaska case takes precedence
since it was JUST LAST SATURDAY. HA! You old fucks!
Okay, I think this is long enough.
