December 3, 1999: WTO Week, an upset stomach and yadda yaddaanyone with a tv, radio, or computer knows what has been going on in seattle this past week. for those who are not actually IN seattle, i'm here to say that it's not all that bad. hell, all this action could be happening in siberia and i still wouldn't be very affected.sure, there IS a lot of mess down there. but it's very concentrated to a few blocks here and there. the biggest complaint around here is that there aren't that many people down there who actually know what WTO is all about. nelson gave me a really really brief lesson on it and i kind of understand. but what is everyone else down there for? to break stuff. to steal stuff. this is what you've been watching on the news. there are, however, legal protests and marches going around. but those people are being overshadowed by the goons running around and targeting stores like nike, FAO, the gap, mcdonalds, and starbucks...to name a few. this week i've grown accustomed to hearing helicopters overhead, sirens going off, and news crews at every turn. a friend of some friends was arrested and has been in jail for about a week now. i thought he would be let out along with the 400 others at the end of the week, but i guess he did something special to stay. :P school that week was full of gossip over the riots and looting. and i'm really glad this week is over because i was sick of hearing it all! *ha ha!* last day of instruction is wednesday, i'm excited. but yeah..let's see if i can remember.. monday: i skipped class because lar's car was in the shop. he needed someone to take him back there once they were finished with it. i was actually looking forward to going to class! but i should have gone to class because the part for his car wasn't there and so nothing was accomplished. haw! weese and i had a concert that night. we snuck meesh in, but apparently this wasn't a required concert so we left. got annie and nelson and i drove to target. :) tuesday: i ended up missing cmu because i slept weird and woke up really sore. okay, lame excuse. i love this class okay? i wouldn't miss it for something that i didn't think was serious enough. *EG* there was math section, where we got our midterms back...and i did some STUPID MISTAKES! *grrrr!!* i just appealed all the questions i got wrong for as much partial credit as possible. *whew* i got home and lar's car was done, so we went to aurora and then stopped off at ross....where it took me HALF AN HOUR TO BUY A SKIRT. *snooooork* i was over at weese's before we had to go to the concert. but he had a meeting at 6...so i called meesh over..and annie came by before she had to go to work...and some how things ended with meesh and i having dinner with jim and mike (from wilson's floor). we went back to her room so that she could talk to mike (this one her bf) and then we went to annie's work before we went to the concert. dawn and domingo also went...because nelson and allan were performing. it was alright...contemporary stuff, so i didn't recognize anything. and it was a lot of shock to the system for me as well. nelson's mom and her friend were there too and we talked to them afterwards. we made plans to get ice cream, but the place closed @ 10pm, so we all went home. that was kind of lame. :P wednesday: went with annie to the doctor's and got breakfast at IHOP where we had a really really weird server. :P *L* i finally went to math lecture. i hate logs!!! GRRRRR. and i hate it a lot because, we all know this part....i've already DONE them YEARS AGO. i went over to meesh's so we could watch buffy, but i grabbed the wrong tape. *doh* so we ended up watching some halloween simpsons. weeeeee. we met up with annie and had food at the fish&chips place owned by that cute little asian couple. then we went to schmidtz to pay her bill...and then... we went to visit wilson at his dorm. but he was sleeping..naked! *LMAO* no, just kidding of course. honestly though i haven't seen that much of wilson since i've known him. *L* so we went down the hall to talk to mike for a while. and then we went to wilson's room again and talked around his bed while he lay in there naked... *chuckle* (j/k weese) then he kicked us out cuz he heard the rioters were on their way to campus. pah! and then i can't remember anything else about this day...oh yes, i talked to el nan that night and it was coo! thursday: i went to cmu and moani told me her party was cancelled. doh! then i had time before math section to read the paper, which i haven't been doing much last week. class was boring. too much effort went into this group activity we had involving..yes, LOGS! but we got our midterms back and i got lotsa points partial so i ended up doing better on this one than i did on the first one! weeeeeee! betty and i went shopping at UVillage and northgate. I BOUGHT MY BALLGOWN SKIRT! and that's all that really matters. *LOL* but really, i never noticed how....yuppie this place is. and it's kind of annoying.. friday: annie made us SO LATE to lunch. *chuckle* it's been weeks since we all met up so it was nice. but it really felt like i just sat down and then got up again. cmu section was review = boring. i met meesh after class so that i could help her bring her things down. she's moving some stuff home before the break. *daww* there weren't any carts available so i had to lift her heavy bag o' books.....it was heaVEY. then they left...lar and i were meeting up with them in a few hours. *coo* math lecture wasn't anything great. i got the homework numbers and talked in the back. so the plan for the night was to meet at olive garden for dinner at 7pm. first we went to target so that larry could fill out a rain check form for a foreman grill (xmas gift for his parents). M&M weren't there yet so we got a table first and then sat down. we were talking about getting dessert so we stopped eating our pasta early to save room. and we're looking at the dessert menu and the only thing that really catches my eye is this big chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.... the waiter notices this and said that it was a really big dessert that serves two or four and if i ate the whole thing.. well...he'd give me twenty dollars! we all know where this is going.. i finished the first half pretty good. but then i started getting full so i worked on the ice cream..and i was afraid to start on the second half. but i did. and i got so close to finishing. i mean, if you weren't full..then what i left behind could be eaten in 3 bites. so yes, i did NOT finish the dessert. but i felt so disgustingly fat afterwards. *L* i just wanted to die. and THEN, i had to drive that night still....driving on a full/exploding stomach is not very fun. i wanted to finish the dessert. i wanted to take that guy's money because he's the one who started the whole thing. ha! and then also larry..he was being stupidhead about honor and so forth. *haw* we went to see james bond at 9.55pm..pretty late. it was alright. but i couldn't enjoy anything because 1) i had an upset stomach 2) i had a headache and 3) the chairs didn't recline. but i guess it was okay. we said good nite to those two and went home. i stayed up until 6 d'loading mp3z...i came away with filter "take a picture," stroke 9 "black backpack," and the WRONG NIN song. but it's still pretty good. i think i need the filter and NIN CDs. the next morning, saturday, i didn't wake up until 2pm. annie took me shopping at 4pm..and we got the same cardigan set but since i won't be seeing her on new years it's okay. *hehe* she dropped me off so i could get ready for the dance. wee! i had a hard time deciding what to wear. i didn't wear that skirt i bought at ross because it looked to frumpy..so i went back to my valentine's day outfit...it's something i know that works. lar wore his cargo pants and structure sweater...he had it easy. :P we met the others and went down there. it was a lot of dark, bass, and dark. :P but i was surprised to see mike there, i thought he was going salsa dancing. he told me that was friday night. anyways..we did some stupid 'dancing' and then went up to his room for some reason. but we just talked with him and jim for a while. then we found everyone again and left. and to my disappointment wilson wasn't coming with us. my GREAT disappointment. (yes wilson..feel bad..you didn't CALL US either!) :P~ i drove my car home and they picked me up. nick from canda was also there so it was nice to see him again. we hung out over there for a few hours. it wasn't anything exciting. i thought we were going bowling afterwards but that didn't seem like it was gonna go. *shrug* i got domingo to take me home around 4am. but it was an okay night. it was fun seeing everyone dressed up and 'dancing.' *heh* and once again, i have NO TOLERANCE for alcohol. i finally had some jello shooters last night and i didn't like them very much. *pah!* i woke up late again on sunday. didn't do much but i did finish my math homework. *hooray* we set up lar's account with the university and looked at some classes, which reminded me that i'm still at 9 credits. i did a little looking around and found out that my current cmu professor is teaching another class next quarter. however, it's available to cmu majors only. i'm emailing him to see if i can get in...i really want this class! fulfilling my psych prereqs will just have to wait until spring quarter..but by then, who knows..i may just forget about it. :) homesite with most promise: Sneaky's Page. *chuckle* as for other news... my trip to california. i still want to go. i had everything shifted so that i could go in february, as i thought that was when Patrick was gonna go...but now he's going in january--i don't know if i have enough time to plan for it. i should wait to see what my schedule is you know? lar'll be going home to georgia for christmas on the 16th. it's gonna be weird not seeing him all the time. but hey, it's only for ten days. we're gonna exchange gifts when he comes back and then there's new years with mike and michelle. :D i'm currently working on my bluebook for my math class. (not gonna post the link *shrug*) it's due today in class and i have a few hours..but i'm just more occupied with finishing this update. *heh* but i guess this is as good as any. sorry it took so long for an update. i'll be better about it because 1) last day of instruction is wednesday and 2) i'll be avoiding studying for finals. talk to you then! last old entry was November 29, 1999. <<<< ^ >>>> |
