| Wanneroo BMX Club is a non-profit organization and needs the help of
all members to continue its existence, this includes running the meetings,
maintenance of the grounds and any upgrading necessary. It is solely dependent
on volunteers to function and receives no outside help either from the
government or City Council. Committee meetings are held on the second Tuesday
of each month at 7.30pm in the Club rooms at the track. All members are
welcome. |
|
| Racing is conducted in age classes ranging from
under 5 years to Open class (16 yrs and over). These classes are then broken
down into novice and expert divisions. When you first commence racing you
are automatically classed as a novice rider until such time as you earn
a placing in a final at a Zone, State, National or World Championship or
you decide to upgrade to an expert. This can be done at any time however
once you decide to upgrade you must apply in writing to the State body
to downgrade to novice level. If due to lack of numbers at club events
(not Open days) your age groups or expert/novice classes are combined you
will still receive points for the class you entered at nominations. |
|
| To be eligible to enter the State Championships each year you must
compete in at least one Zone Championship. There are four held each year,
City Zones, Eastern Zones, South West Zones and North West Zones. If you
were not licensed until after these events were held you may apply for
an exemption. There is no qualifying criteria for the Zone Championships
and any licensed rider may enter. |
|
| Wanneroo races 6 weeks to a round and club members
receive a free nomination on the first week of each round when trophies
are presented. The age group you nominate for on the first week is the
age your points will be tallied in each week. If you race out of your age
class points can not be registered in the original class. If you have a
birthday during a round you may continue to race in the same age group
until the end of the round |
|
| A metropolitan Interclub series is conducted each year, and this is
a great way for new members to be introduced to racing outside this track.
There are nine race meetings held throughout the year and points are accumulated
to find the winning club at the end of the year. If you are interested
in racing for your club please ask at the nominations counter. |
|
| Once you are licensed you can ride at any track
during Club meetings or Open days. Calendars are available at the nominations
counter with a full run down of when and where clubs race and when open
days and Interclubs are being held. Nomination forms for Open days are
available in the nominations room and entries are to be sent to the address
on the forms by the date specified thereon. |
|
| If you have any queries please do not hesitate to ask someone, if they
can’t help they will direct you to someone who can. We all started out
as new members and understand that it can be a little confusing to begin
with. If something doesn’t make sense hopefully we can explain it or change
it. |
